Yes you need to post. Just get active. If you have some knowledge then you can share it. If you see some questions you can answer then answer them. Just avoid all the ways people try to increase post count. Things like 'great share man' 'thanks'. That's why we have thanks button to avoid that. Just keep at it and you will get there in no time.

Side note ; even if you don't think something's worth sharing I'm sure you will be helping someone out. No one is an expert in everything.

Theres also a so a competition giving away jr VIP membership. Check it out. Only one guy entered in July n obviously he won. So go there and have a go as well.

My bad luck as I have not yet enough posts to even participate in the competition.
But for sure, knowledge is the key to success. I have read the shezboy threads and now, I am going to fulfill the requirements by sharing knowledge and helping others as much as I can.
