Confirmed. Google Ads ranked our website without any SEO!

Got it.

Well, over the course of 6-7 months. The budget increased over time as we started getting decent amount of sales from Smart Shopping Campaigns. The trick is to generate enough conversion data. Then, the G algorithm does the rest.

Does google automatically optimize your conversion ads like Facebook or do you have to manually bid?
How many conversion do you have before it starts optimizing?

yes the problem is were to fing 25k my friend
The first month we spe
Client never had budget for seo but spent 25k$ in ads? Are those thresholds?
Exactly. Most clients want to start getting sales as soon as their site launches and ads bring quick return. Doesn't matter how much I try to convince them on the long term benefits of SEO lol.

The first month we started with a Standard Shopping Campaign. It pretty much blew through $1k with ridiculously irrelevant and broad search terms but also brought in few conversions. I was adding negative keywords like crazy every day but wasn't helping much. By the end of second month we had about 20+ conversions. Still not happy with the performance. During this time someone suggested we switch to Smart Shopping ads. Then, boom! Started getting 5-6 conversions per day and it kind of took off from there. In my opinion, FB automatic conversion optimization is shit compared to Google's Machine Learning.

Yes smart shopping is gold, can vouch for that but it needs previous sales data like 20-30 sales. If you start smart shopping on a new campaign for the product with no sales data, smart shopping will be just regular shopping campaign.

A similar thing mentioned on the Ahref youtube channel a few months ago. But it is linkbuilding.

Imagine you are google and I am one of your advertiser. I am spending $50 a day on ads from last 6-7 months. Now, would you favour my website to be ranked in top of the organic search results for the keywords I am targeting in ads? If its a YES, why would I spend money on ads? I would enjoy the organic traffic right? Or I would reduce my budget to save my costs and enjoy the combination of paid and organic traffic. So, indirectly you as Google would lose business which you would never want.

I am sure, Google ads could not be the reason behind your rankings. It might be good ui, people linking snd sharing your website or your website is having better qualities than your competitors.

I think Google page experience algo is at play

Thanks, how many conversion did it take you for it to start optimizing? And this is only for smart shopping ads right?

Did the site gain any new backlinks? If someone wanted to link to s blog about your topic and search google and took the first result, it could be your clients site.

Ahrefs did a case study and gained a few links by being the first result, albeit paid, for some search terms. Check their youtube channel.

I agree with you 100%. All I'm saying is Google Ads is the reason behind this snowball effect. We haven't done any SEO whatsoever. With that being said, I'm happy how it turned out :)

We had about 20 conversions on the Standard Shopping Campaign. Then, when we switched to Smart Shopping campaign it took about a day to optimize :) Brought us 4-5 conversions right away.

The keywords that ranked...what is their difficulty?
Not all of them have high difficulty but there are some that surprised me. Such as some brand names.

Great to know. Could you please share the keyword volume and its keyword difficulty score so we could have a better idea.

Interesting indeed,
thanks for sharing dude, i'm sure that will be useful for many people in here and for me in the future :)

Stop the ads and see what happens.

Then you will have your real answer :)

Off course ads help, anything that brings real people to your website with content that gives your visitors what they need will help your ranking. The point is to have good signals given to google.

I paid the gready whore G more than a 1.27 mil euro in 6 years for multiple projects....this never happened to me.

I think it is more a coincidence than anything else.
Google has prioritized ecomerce websites in the last 2 years of updates too.

That being said, it may have an indirect effect.
Maybe the website got natural backlinks with people clicking on ads.
Many natural backlinks are made by people looking for information on Google and giving credit to the author on their website with a backlink. Obviously you won't be credited if people can't find you on Google. It is the eternal story with the egg and the chicken. It is possible a few real writers discovered the website through ads whereas it was totally invisible before.
