Hi there,
I have just bought a windows VPS(running windows server 2008) and Domain.
but I don't know what I should do in order to use this VPS as my web hosting.

I would be grateful if someone could help me:
1. What are the steps that I should do?
2. Regarding DNS , I understood that I need some server to connect between the domain to my VPS..
what's the process for that?

Thanks ...

Hi,

I am not willing to troll, however... why using Windows for web hosting? Do you have any particular requirements, such as ASP or stuff MS does?

Just a few hints, if you need regular web hosting, such as Wordpress site, then go for any shared hosting, if you need more power get a Linux VPS, etc. Only use I see in IM for Windows VPS is scrapebox like tools. Or maybe very specific stuff, but if it was the case I believe you would know what to do with your VPS.

Again, for plain web hosting, you shouldn't even have to worry about DNS more than telling you registrar (the company you are renting your domains from) which name servers to use (those are given by the VPS provider).

Please let us know, if possible, what you exactly need your server for. Otherwise, Google is your friend, I believe.

Windows VPS is overkill in terms of resources if you just want to use it for web hosting. Linux VPS is indeed what you be needing. I recommend installing Vesta control panel on it, since it's secure and free, and you can easily manage your websites there. I've written a tutorial on how to install and it, which you can read here.
