Apparently if the power shuts off or you turn the computer off while FollowLiker is running it causes an error in the program. I can't open FollowLiker without it crashing. I know this because Support emailed me asking if I shut the computer down while FollowLiker was running. Although they figured out what caused the problem, they did not tell me a solution yet.

Anyone know how I can remedy this? I've already tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, starting computer, etc.. Nothing seems to work.

Have you tried removing all the files that FL uses, configurations, saved data etc? The crash is probably caused by them.

Make sure to back them up in case you need them for future use, then try re-installing the software.

I uninstalled the software and re-installed it. Uninstalling it removed everything that was associated with the program unless I'm mistaken? thank you for your help, I hope I can get it back and running again.

Uninstall the software
create another administrator account
Instal the software again
If it didnt work
U have to wait for FL support

Thanks but how do you create a new admin account? When you purchase FL they email you a username and password.

Like now let's say u have
Surfer-pc user that's the administrator
..
Create another one and name it surfer-pc2
I think u can create another user on Mac !

Well, uninstalling doesn't always mean it removes all the files. It happens with big programs too, when you remove them, they leave files in Temp folder, Registry and other stuff. So, my guess is that when FL tries to read some of those files it's corrupted and therefore it crashes the program because it doesn't handle it correctly.

If you have extra money, I would buy a vps. I leave mines running 12-18 hours a day without any problems.

Oh Ok, I understand what you mean. Yeah I tried that just now but it didn't work either.

Since you're using a VM, how about just making a new machine?
Unless the information is all stored remotely, you should be good to go.

When you uninstalled it, did you use the uninstaller attached to it or did you uninstall it using a uninstall app.
Mac files are usually all spread out and unattached so something like AppCleaner or AppZapper would be needed.

@OP, delete these folders:
1. C:\Users\administrator(or your name)\Documents\Follow Liker
2. C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Follow Liker

Let me know if worked.

In install/uninstall problems a common step to take is to reboot the pc between installing or uninstalling. Many have alluded to the likely culprit which is files that are in use by the system. A completely clean uninstall, delete all related folders, reboot, reinstall, and run the installer and the application with Administrator status, and you may solve your problem. Otherwise, it probably is best to wait for a direct solution from support.

You also may wish to temporarily disable antivirus while running the installer.

I have a Mac running a VMWare for Windows. I'm not sure what "AMD CPU" is..
you don't really have to know :)
if you have a MAC, that sports Intel CPU

not sure about the solution to your problem though, more than likely FL is storing somewhere a file which became corrupted when the machine was shut down without stopping the tool and that prevents FL to start, now the good question is which file is that exactly and where it is located

but if you run a virtual machine, can't you just uninstall and reinstall that? so you would start with a virgin environment to install FL again

Yes, I've tried that a few times. I unintalled the program and deleted all associated folders/files of FollowLiker, restarted computer and reinstalled it fresh. Still did not work. Created a new Admin Account and tried installing it on that but that didn't work either. Support is very slow, You send an email, they respond the next day with a one sentence response. You reply back, you wait another day, they respond with a one sentence question, it's like pulling teeth.

I'm not quite sure why you would just not reset your VM. I promise you that's a working solution UNLESS all of the information is stored on THEIR servers which is about a 0.0000001% chance.

Why ask for help if you're going to blow it off?

EDIT:
Another user asked "but if you run a virtual machine, can't you just uninstall and reinstall that? so you would start with a virgin environment to install FL again"

That's pretty much the same thing I'm asking you. Your responses do not seem to mention re-doing the VM... Have you tried that?

Im surprised that they have not asked for no logs to investigate why it shut down. Check the Event Viewer logs to find what error code the crash has and Google that. As for the program I would use something like revo uninstaller to ensure all files, folders and reg entries are removed. Make sure to check all boxes during the removal. Once thats done check all startup entries and make sure nothing is still left over and trying to start. And also check for any services that may still be trying to run associated with it.
Once you have removed it all restart and try again, change the installation folder for good measure. I would also install a CPU monitor program to ensure your system is not overheating as this may have caused the shutdown but its hard to say without delving further into the logs.

Hope it helps :)

ok sorry I didn't update sooner, I figured it out (on my own). Here's what FollowLiker User Manual says in their Caution Setting:

"Please take note of the following:• You should not shutdown or switch off your computer while FollowLiker is running, as doing that may damage the data files of the software. Close all opened/running instances of the software before shutting down or switching off your computer."

Here's what I did to fix the problem: I had to disable my Widows XP Firewall, uninstall FollowLiker, delete all files associated with FollowLiker (since it's not deleted after you uninstall the software). Restart the computer....Then I reinstall FollowLiker and it worked again. I tried a combination of all of these things and it did not work but doing those steps worked. I don't know if all of those steps are needed (I think they are) but that's what worked for me. Obviously it's an issue if your computer shuts off while FollowLiker is running or they wouldn't have mentioned it in their User Manual under Caution.

Hope that helps if someone had the same problem.
