I know which competitor blasted my site with what looks like 500k or so backlinks with less than 4 anchor text (on a site with only 2k backlinks)

Whats worse, he is drip feeding them so they are slowly coming in every single day and who knows how long this will last. I got the unnatural link penalty message and I am wondering what my options are.

Should I 301 my site to his? How long will he feel the penalty and can he stop the 301 Juice/penalty somehow? (such as with disavow)

Secondly, I thought about blasting his site back with something like GSA/Xrumer. But this would be a last resort.

His site has barely any backlinks that are visible on ahrefs/moz etc (around 30 backlinks) but ranking #1-3 for medium comp keywords. He is using a a high pr blog network thats IP cloaked, so I can never really know how many links/authority he has. Any ideas or help?

Oh the beauty of negative SEO....you can contact G about this via webmaster tool...but since G poses in virgin Mary I dont think they will get involved in this kind of issues....my advice is to block ur website using robots.txt wait for the attack to stop or try to contact the attacker and make him understand that you can hit him with same methods....if you want to keep the website clean it(i dont advise u to do so because it is a titanic work) remove the block from rob.txt
    2. You can start over and do a 301 redirect....rank penalty will not affect ur new website.
    3. You can hit him the same and spend ur time sabotageing eachother....nobody will win from this.
    You decide.

Your URL is now junk! It is good for one thing, 301 to a YouTube video. Penalties do not pass to YouTube, it will just rank the video.

Also blast his with Xrumer! Same Anchors. He will be screwed. I have done this.

If it were me, I'd blast his site right away with even greater velocity while creating a new site at the same time and refraining from doing anything that would link the old and new site. I would also activate whois guard to increase the safety of the new site. This is a long process and it may not appeal to you. Even I would think twice before taking such action.

This is what I recommend: Contact the badger and try to reason with him to get him to stop. If he doesn't listen, you have no other option but to nuke his site as well. He can't sit on his fat bottom and enjoy the profits while your site languishes in Google.

You said your site has 2k backlinks, if those are good links then i don't think you will lose your ranking.

Have you noticed any change in rankings yet?

That's why you should get proper anchor text diversity -

Everyone focuses on rankings when they start a site. But what they should do is, first make their site's anchor diversity bullet proof. There are morons everywhere who would happily take down your site. Why not take precautions?

I don't see the point of your point crusher. You could have the best anchor text diversity in the world prior to getting neg seo'd, but if someone wants to blast your site with 500K links of only 4 keywords, your nicely arranged 2K links anchor text diversity is out the window.

Still, your main anchor won't go over 30% if you maintain proper diversity. As soon as you see the spammy links pouring in, start another anchor optimization campaign. And you will be safe.

I focus on getting the best possible anchor diversity on the first 2 months of launching a site. I always use aged domains and usually build around 8k links in the first 2 months. I got blasted several times as well. But never got affected.

P.S. To all who are saying that op should return the same favor...how would he know who actually blasted his site? Revenge is not the answer - hear from a guy who took several revenge in his personal life.

Will not work because Google is simply looking for excuses to apply a penalty to any small site so they can boost their Internet Association members and themselves in the serps.

Then the attacker wins. Once again - poor advice.

Once the attacker sees he touched a nerve, he may redouble his efforts. Poor advice.

Correct. The penalty may eventually pass over.

There is a winner and that is Google. They boost themselves and their Internet Association friends in the serps. Google can claim 99.9% of all small websites are penalized and only Google's shit and their Internet Association friend's sites remain.

There is no easy way to reverse the impacts of a massive NSEO attack. The OP may be permanently screwed just as others are that have been hit by these large scale attacks. After all, how long would it take to try to remove and disavow 500,000 or more links to please a company that wants to make their search product paid only?

    I agree with you completely.
A full out neg-SEO war is a very ugly scene, don't instigate any further action.
