Hi all,
When doing your SEO competition analysis - how much attention do you pay to the total number of links to the domain?
For example, if the inner page I'm thinking of competing with has PR 1 and 37 backlinks but the domain has over 1 million - would you pursue? In other words, an authority site has landed on the first page 'by accident' and is not properly optimised for that particular keyword.
I've found a few keywords for which the top 10 are all authority sites but none of them are optimised for the keywords in particular. Less than 400 (max) backlinks to the pages but hundreds of thousands if not millions of backlinks to their domain as a whole and have authority.
What to do??
Maybe a 301 redirect on a new domain to pass authority and PR followed by superior on page SEO would help boost me to top rankings?
