Competition level question

I'm doing keyword research for a new niche that I'm planning to get into with Market Samurai...

I'm wondering how do you guys determine how strong the competition is for a particular niche, and wither it is worth going after. What statics do you look at?

Don't forget to always check the serps yourself. Over time you get better at seeing the difficulty of ranking a keyword

by google keyword suggestion do you mean the adword keyword tool?

what do you look for to see the difficulty of ranking a keyword?

Use seo for firefox plugin and check to see if site is trying to rank for keyword. Look to see if the keyword is in title, URL, etc.. You can rank for anything its just if it is worth the time put in to rank for that keyword. Look at what your competitors links are as well. Sometimes you just cant tell or at least sometimes a keyword looked quite hard to rank for and I ranked for it easily and others I thought a keyword would be easy and I am not even in top 20. On page has to be up to par first

When I pick a niche I look to see how bad the sites are. If they are from the 90s which is the niche I am in now, it means they prob don't know anything about seo and you may rank quite easily. I stay away from things/niches that are prone to be absorbed by IMers.
