I have an e-commerce site that I created Jan 2011. Using the knowledge I've learned here, I am currently dominating the first page of google with several keywords. Recently I received an email (via site email) from my competitor pretending they were interested in my products and wanting more info about the products, where it comes from etc. I know this person is my competitor because I follow on their facebook page and twitter (They dont know who I am.) So curious should I just ignore this email or respond to the email? Have you ever been in a similar situation? What did you do?

Make it look like you are clueless and naive, don't know how to run your business successfully, making decisional mistakes all the time, you are paying too mich and selling too cheap... there is nothing better than making competitors underestimate you. Then they usually start to wait for the time when you are no longer a business threat and dial back their own efforts to beat you. At the same time you keep on banking.

He just took the words out of my mouth. Also, never tell him your true identity, I mean the fact that you are stalking him on FB and TW. You can even eventually talk about how happy you are that by doing ~that and that for you business (which should be false and a mistake) is getting you ssuccesful. As Monrox said, make him take confusing actions, thinking he is doing same as you and will compete you on the same level, while he is actually doing worse. Ideas while pop out of you head soon enough.

Mind you, you said you've only been around since Jan 2011. Not sure the prospects of sale are that great with only 3/4 months revenue.

To me, he's not selling based on monthly income, but on the value (and lost income) of ranking #1.
His competitor is obviously doing his homework to see how he can increase business. Answer his dilemma by selling out. Make a friend, make some money, and make a client in the future.
Thanks, I think this is the road I'm going with for now. I dont plan on selling right now, still vary new, but once I reach my goal of 25-75k/month then I may sell and focus on other projects.
I'm just so grateful to have BHW resources, I'm working on a new strategy to rank for more keywords and stay in the top two spots.
I'm not gonna send him any malware or porn backlinks etc, dont wanna mess up my karma. Whatever I'm doing is working, so now time to step it up some more.

Lmao at the last comment. On a serious note, not replying would super piss him off, but then you risk the chance of him noticing he was too obvious and continuing to spy on ur tactics. I would suggest replying with some misinformation, preferably leading him to think its just a tough racket and ur not making much either. Hopefully this will force him to jump into something else leaving you even more customers.

Don't give him any kind of information which are unique 
. just send him an e mail with the informations that are easily found on-line they are just trying to get information about your site and your contents. so i think it will be no good to share any good information with them.
