Hi,

I read a lot of the guides here on SEO and found plenty of info about keyword research, link building and etc.
But the problem is that there is too little information about competition analysis (or maybe I missed it?).

How do you analyze your competition?
What factors you are looking for?
How do you determine if it is an easy, medium or hard keyword?
What keywords to avoid?
Any other advice?

Thanks!

I am using LongTailPro to analyze on how competitive is the keywords. LongtailPro have feature "Keyword Competitiveness"

Average Keyword Competitiveness
0 - 10: No Competition
10 - 20: Extremely Low Competition
20 - 30: Low Competition
30 - 40: Moderate Competition
40 - 50: Somewhat High Competition
60 - 100: Extremely High Competition

Now, if the AKC(Average Keyword Competitiveness) is 32 which is Moderate competition, I will target that keyword. I stay away to target AKC keywords (40+) that very high competition.

It is also the same with SEMrush, Moz, Ahref and other, where they have their own tool for Competitor Analysis

Note: I'm not affiliated with those sites, I am just using their services

be very carfull there because every metric service use different stats your notice longtailpro are wrong on there stats for example a 15 is a 50 in moz as you can imagine that way off the truth in metrics be careful .

your stat health is the same for all metrics and looks good ,just be careful when comparing metrics

Competition analysis is somthing you have to do manual instead putting trust on those fancy tools.

Wether it's LTP,ahrefs, key serack, kwfinder, semrush you name it you still need to check and spy competitiors manually.

You will find very low competition number keywords which you will never be able to rank or even think.

With ahrefs you can spy your competitor backlinks and decide wether you can competitie with your competitor or not.
With semrush you can find more hidden top 200 serps kwds or even niches

There are bunch of guides in white hat and black hat sub forums as well.

If you depend on a keyword tool competition numbers you are going to loose lot of things.
