Competition Analysis

Say I have a list of 12,000 products I want to sell...

I have a list of their names, effectively keywords.

What would be the best tool to use to analyse how easy or hard each product would be to rank on an individual level in huge numbers like this?

I'm trying to work out which keywords we have which are 'low hanging fruit' where we can get easy and fast results, and avoid putting effort into products and keywords we have no chance of ranking for (say an amazon or ebay page ranks for them...)

I'm a little rusty on this shit, any help would be appreciated.

For keyword competitiveness i use long tail platinum which some think is the bees knees and some think isnt accurate enough but.......

The latest update they did means you can now bulk check competition.

im currently bulk checking 800 keywords which will take an estimated 2 hours. So for 12k ish it will take quite a while.

You mean bulk checking the KC value of keywords as I right now I have to click on each calculate value to get the results.
But yeah LTP can help you in this. I use that too and works fine for me.

Yes m8, there is now a small yellow icon thing top right on the avg kc tab, click that and it will tell you how long it will take to check the KC of the current list you have open. Then just let it do its thing.

Vote for longtail PRO too, new version just come up, with 1 click to bulk check KC(keyword competition score), usually under 30 KC is doable, but sometimes, you can even find a good keyword among the high KC score.

Run the longtail, input your keyword list, bulk check KC, pick out the scores 10----20++, and randomly check some high score ones, maybe you can find some less-no competition product keyword


PS: better add some prefix/suffix like "best " "review" etc to each product keyword and then check again

Where is the bulk check keyword comp score at? I can't seem to figure it out, I can only do them one by one. Edit: I see you paste them to that Add box

I've bought longtail pro + platinum. Seems like it might just do the job...

Yellow button in the top right I think... I've been using this for 30 mins... don't count on me being correct.

When doing competitor analysis I use SEM Rush, but I've been hearing a lot of people talking about Longtail Pro. I am going to have to check that out.

I use both tools to help get a well rounded idea of the competition.

Ste Fishkin, you've already bought Long Tail Pro, I've found that it takes a lot of time to spit out the KC value and in many cases it is quite inaccurate. Once you have a list of keywords with low KC value, I would suggest plugging them into keywordrevealer.com and you can check the competition score one by one, it doesn't take much time, they don't have the bulk option yet but it is worth it in terms of accuracy.

While nothing beats a manual top 10 - 20 analysis, I have found keyword revealer to be a great tool for checking competition. It also costs like 30 bucks a month for unlimited keywords and like 10 bucks(the plan I use) for 50 competition evaluations per day.
 
Is this organic or paid competition?I always use seoquake plugin for mozilla to analyse the top 10 serps.
