Competing Against ABCNews.com...Can I outrank them??

Before: You could be... Try leveraging other popular news sites to get an added advantage
After: Dammit.. you still need to leverage other news sites..> They could over take you

Not really necessary. ;) I wasn't going for a trendy news topic...it just so happened that my keyword showed up in an ABC News article that was ranking number one.

Guess who's #1 and BEAT ABC!!? *beams*
Congrats. I love seeing people take on a challenge and win big.

Now that you beat ABC, you know you can beat almost anyone if you work hard and the goal is worthy of achievement.

Pick some good kws and get out there and pwn the serps.

How much has your traffic increased?

Pretty significantly, actually. It's a small niche, so it doesn't have a TON of visitors to begin with, but since I reached #1 I'd say for sure and increase of 200+ more people a day. That's actually a lot considering NONE of my marketing methods include paid traffic. It's all from free sources.

Yeah, definitely. :) I think Amazon, by far, is my best achievement though. I rank #1 above them in another luxury niche market.

My next goal is to rank for a keyword that has 67,6050,000 results. It's a two-word phrase that is older than dirt and has been around since the dawn of the internet. Even before Go0gle existed. My competitors for this keyword include Amazon, Wikipedia, and other big names. I'm already on page 3. ;) Have already tested it with AdWords and it looks like it's gonna bring a crap ton of traffic. Well compared to my other niches at least. Stay tuned!

Hey I wanted to give an update on this project....even with Panda Update I'm now at #4 for a the two word phrase that has about ~70,000 exact searches in the UK (I found out that I didn't need to rank in the US to get this traffic, as most of it was international and NOT in the US).

Here's what I think helped:

I built 3 .co.uk profile backlinks with my kw in the anchor text - they're indexed in google
I built 2-3 .edu profile backlinks with my kw in the anchor text - indexed in google
I built 1 .gov profile backlink that 's indexed in google

A domain that is in this format:

www.(keyword1)-(keyword2).com

Hope this gives people some insight, as I know that a lot of us are kinda lost after Panda... :)

Thanks for the update. You seem to be doing a really great job with this stuff! best of luck to you

How much more of a boost do you get from the .edu and .gov links?

Please keep posting with updates. How much money are you making per month? :) Also, congratulations! :D

You are doing obviously a great stuff! I really encourage your willingness...carry on. i think you will be success in a time because nothing is impossible in this competitive world. thanks

More updates.... Just jumped up in the US ranking to page #1 from being non-existent for my two word phrase. I've noticed that the reason my site is ranking high (now in the US AS WELL AS UK, only a DAY later) is because of those gov and edu links. The interesting thing is that they're links that were build 6 months to a YEAR ago. I'm thinking that aged backlinks have a LOT to do with the ranking now... That's all for now. :)

Oh yeah, someone asked how much I make... it pays the rent and then some. ;) My goal for the holiday season this year is at LEAST $100,000 USD. Will let you all know how it goes by updating this thread when I get the check for earnings at the end of the year. ;) I'll be using a more advanced SEO technique that not a lot of ppl know about that I've been using to get traffic for a long time (don't ask me to tell you what it is, I won't tell). Stay tuned for more results....
