I've tried and failed to make IM money for many years.

Shiny objects. A lack of focus. Poor work ethic (athough I've devoted many hours to it). The lack of focus to stick with things and make them work. (in the beginning, I'll be focused on 1 thing alone).

They say your approach to life shines through in whatever you do; in that case, I've been lazy, sloppy, depressed and unfocused. I thought in my mind I'd have millions through IM long ago, driving cars, flipping mansions.

My failures in IM have created deep self esteem and depression issues that have spread to other areas of my life. I'm nothing but a "failure".

I haven't dated women, made friends, or been very socially active in a long time. I have to fix this, to be blunt. Success with IM should spread to other areas in my life too.

Reality: I haven't made a dollar online in a long time. some of that is because I was focused on the wrong things and didn't apply the knowledge I learned correctly. Now I'm about to do that.

Strategy:
SEO:
  • Acquire expired domains with good metrics and no spam
  • Generate robust content to get it to rank
  • Target low competition, weak keywords with decent amounts of traffic, by optimizing pages with 1K-3K words of content around that keyword
  • Build web 2.0s to the inner pages
  • Keep the pages as close to level 2 in the site architecture as possible (level 3 and below architecture pages have harder time ranking)
  • Rank and monetize!
Less domains are more. I'll try and have one mega-site instead of creating 4-5 mini sites with 5 pages each.

The first project is arbitrage seo. I bought an old domain around a certain online service, like banner design or article writing services. I'm going to use arbitrage to charge a certain price to have the job done, then outsource it to quality freelancers for less.

So, let's get started!

Good luck man, don't let this one slip through the cracks. For motivation, subscribed. Let your drive propel you to following through and finishing your task list. Should be an interesting ride.

How often are you planning on updating?

Tahnk yu all, didnt expect such a warm reception :-)

At least weekly, maybe 2x / week. And thank you. I've quit far too many times before. I can't again. I'm feeling confident - took a look at several sites I want to emulate and think I'll be able to do so pretty effectively.

11/19

Glancing thro my todoist (task management app), I see lots of initial tasks being crossed out. Thats good..

I just have various ideas and things that I want to try; I used to look at my godaddy account and see a bunch of old, worthless urls of ideas that I wanted to try but never got around to executing.

I'm on a huge mission to reduce the clutter with IM. Keep it simple. Think less. Execute more. Be mentally tough and stick in there when stuff takes a long time to happen. Learn from my mistakes. Lift advice from people's journey threads, people that are actually ranking.

Progress update: installed wordpress, proper themes, and did intial keyword research for 5 sites:
  • 2 arbitrage sites
  • 1 affiliate product review site
  • 1 content locker site
  • 1 apartment review site (cpa offer)

All 5 are aged domains with a significant amount of backlinks, and decent history.

Found a way to generate content, and found juicy keywords to target. Going to focus on generating 1K-2K words at least on every page. The google docs voice recorder is REALLY good, better than dragon naturally speaking IMO. and its free (!)

Alright, thats my main progress update so far. I'll check in again soon. Lots of content to write, and then its a matter of beginning the ranking process by pointing web 2.0s on pages.

Spend: $70 (domains)
Revenue: $0

More to come

11/26 update

Learning about SEO is a process, and I learned a couple new things about the way expired domains work.

In my haste to purchase expired domains with "lots of backlinks" I am starting to realize that many of them are crap, even if they have lots of links.

I just learned today that you're supposed to use DA, PA, and TF / CF as scanning metrics. TF is particularly important, as its a great indicator on whether the domain is worth using as a pbn site, or even a new money site.

Scanning all the aged domains I have in that new light, its very clear that I screwed up with them.
Now Im wondering if I have to find vetted domain like this for my future money sites. Or should I just start from scratch with new domains for future money sites?

That makes things a bit difficult but I'll keep pushing.

I need to refresh my strategy.

NEW PRIORITY: Create a PBN. I read a great tutorial on the subject by lightningblitz, I can't post links yet, but it's awesome.

I'll keep grinding!

I have to apologize for not updating a little while.

What happened?

Well, the honest answer is that I got caught up in doing a lot of seo research, and it's a little bit confusing / intimidating to me. I think the thing about pbn's is that they can be de-ndex at any time, and it requires quite a bit of thinking in terms of being able to find the domain with good metrics (pa, da, tf, etc), make sure that you have hidden hosting, and do many other things to avoid having a footprint.

As well, with all the expenses and all the frustration that comes out of producing 50,000 words of content, I'm wondering if trying to rank websites through seo and pbn's is what I'm passionate about.

On the other hand, Facebook fan pages are things that I know pretty well, enjoy it, or fairly cheap to advertise with, and allow me to explore my passion.

I'm putting together a niche website in the fashion niche. I'm going to use my copy-writing skills, and product creation skills, to create and sell products on my Facebook fan page.

I will also probably be doing some affiliate marketing. I purchased a fashion blog URL, and I'm using optimize press, to collect opt-ins through both the website, and the same page. And of course, I will push traffic to the website, from the fan page.

I am starting a 0 with this Facebook fan page, no followers of any kind. But what I'll do is create a large, targeted, interested audience, hopefully at least 25,000 followers and up. From there, I will use email marketing and product sales, to passively generate sales and income on a daily basis, around the clock. Let's begin
