We are a small construction company and since we operate using cellphones and do our business at our customer's homes rather than at an office, our only business address is a storage unit which we use to store materials and company vehicles. I'm curious what the protocol is for such an outfit when it comes to setting up our address on Google Maps?

Should we use the self-storage company's address or will Google not allow our address to share with another company? Is there anyway around this? I think technically what we're trying to do isn't Black Hat because it's completely legitimate on our end but I suspect Google will not see it as so.

    Any advise for us?

    Thanks in advance

If you have a physical address at this site and are there to collect the mail then there shouldnt be a problem.

The only possible problem is if there are a large amount of companies that work from the exact address and post box.

You can get a virtual address, keep in mind you need to be able to receive mail from the location as they send a actual letter to you with a confirmation code. Also, it will show up on maps and a storage unit would look really strange.

Look for mailbox plans from virtual office providers. The only problem is if someone goggles the address they may find the same address used by hundreds of businesses.

There are several locations that use the same address (Apt complex's, Commercial buildings, etc...) Do you guys think google will someday penalize these?

You only need an address from which you can get the mail sent by them and then there should not be any issue.

virtual mailbox is good for you
i think if you will make a small site related to you then try to advertise on adsence for local places you can get some more customers

I had the same problem with a company that only had a P.O. Box.
They used a storage area like you do.
Used the storage area address and put the unit number as a suite number.
Let the office know I was going to get some mail to the main office with my unit number on it and got it listed that way.
    Hope this helps

Thank you all for the replies. I'm kinda like the virtual mail idea. The address for the storage clearly shows a storage building on Google Maps. Customers will probably know what's up, but the virtual office shows a real office.

    Thanks!

Can you explain this a little more? I'm not sure what you're suggesting exactly but it looks interesting.

Also, would there be any drawbacks to getting the address just long enough to verify for Google and then cancel the virtual mailbox but keeping the address on Google Maps?
