Hello good people of BHW. I'm planning to build a community website/forum. how effective it is today? need advice and help to run it succesfully/ thanks.

Unless you already have a solid source of traffic who would follow you to your community or you have a BRANDED niche social media profile with an existing audience, FB groups would be the better way to go.

FBG is sucking the life out of traditional forums

This would be very difficult unless you have a lot of time and money to invest in the site or are already an authority on the subject.

Hi! It will take a lot of time and helpers to keep the site working)
At first come up with the idea of the site

Do you have a following on social media related to the comunity niche or connections to anyone that does? That would be your best way to drive traffic.

Imo fbg fucking sucks compared to a good forum, at least for me it does for several reasons.

Often for one niche you have to join multiple groups for subniches.

Unless you are 24/7 inspecting all your groups it's impossible to see what you missed or find stuff back or scrolling through new topics is just chaos.

For a niche I prefer a good forum over fbg any day.

Once you get everything set up, you need to be pumping content in to it yourself like a machine. If you start to get some organic users, offer them moderator status and even some money if they invite new users or use the site every day.

Edit:

Is this more like Craigslist or more like Reddit?
