I’ve been performing a lot of local SEO audits lately and I notice a lot of problems on websites that are being worked on by other SEO agencies, especially when it comes to optimizing title tags.
The first thing I look for on a website is to see if there is a proper H1 tag on the page that targets the keyword. Most of the time, I can tell which website was made by a professional SEO and which was outsourced to a clueless web designer when a website has either 8 H1 tags and nothing else, or 8 H2 tags and no H1 tag, which is the most common.
Other things I check for include word count on each page (compared to competitors), individual service pages, location pages, privacy policies, and a FAQ page.
What are some common mistakes you guys find other SEO’s making, either from your audits or from your experience hiring them? Would love to hear from you.
