Commission Junction links = SEO juice?

Whats up guys,

So my company is looking into (we'll the company I work for) signing up Commission Junctions affiliate program. There is a hefty up front fee + 30% off all paid commissions so its no joke. My question is will the site get any SEO juice from the links publishers will be putting on their sites? Or does the commission junction affiliate code in the link wipe that out?

So it sounds like you folks are buying leads/actions/whatever from Commission Junction?

From what I've seen with most affiliate programs the URL provided to publishers is typically redirect to your (or whomever has the offer running) website which they use to track how much traffic they are sending, but it has the added effect of putting a redirect to your page instead of a direct link.


Typically with these (if they are redirect based) you can assume you aren't going to be getting any linkjuice from publishes promoting your affiliate link.


If an actual link to your landing page is the click-through link for any ads/text ads c-junction might be promoting then you should see a few get indexed, but once removed from the publishers side they would fade out of the index.



So to sum up - probabaly not!

I can confirm that as the redirects run through Commission Junction servers before redirecting to your site, the links are neither permanent nor pass any link juice.

Any publisher with a site worth getting a link from is going to nofollow the link anyway.

CJ used to be a bunch of nasty pseudo-porn.... why on earth would you want links from that?

theoretically, any link should help but in this case i doubt it...

with CJ, the links are redirected through CJ's system (mostly to hide the afflinks ,etc.). usually the links are gibberish like sdklfjs.com/soaidufsoidau and most likely aren't measured by google as a redirect (I may be mistaken, however it's not easy for google to get the redirect data like it is with other redirects such as bit.ly)

CJ can be a great place for business, and a great way to get affiliates to see your product, however personally I think you should consider all the other reasons to sign up than the possibility of linkjuice.... (if anything sometimes affiliates will try to out rank your org in different search areas that you're already ranking for....)

These links will not have any link juice as they pass through CJs servers before getting to yours..

I could be wrong, but I am 99% sure that I am not.
