Commision just cut from $21 to $3.50! Did I do something wrong?

I have been promoting a product for a few months. selling a few every week nothing great but a nice extra income. I usually get 20 hops per day on average.

Yesterday I spun an article with article marketing wizard and put a hoplink in it (a mistake I now think). Anyway I got 200 hops from those spun articles - probably the article website staff checking them.

Anyway later that day I made a sale on my clickbank product from a different hoplink. The commission was just $3.50! I usually make around $20 on this product so I emailed the affiliate manager. They emailed me back and said that they had cut commision for everyone on this product as there are now too many people using 'robot sites' to make sales.

What do you guys make of this? Do you think they have really cut everyone's commission or do you think they have just targeted me? The timing seems to say I did something to raise a red flag. Has anyone experienced similar?

Now what should I do? I guess I should open a new clickbank account and see if the commision is still $20. Would they (the owner of the product) know it was still me or do they just see the clickbank id?

Any ideas, advice or experience appreciated.

So don't know if this is interesting to anybody but here goes.

I have opened a new clickbank account and changed all my hoplinks in my articles, blogs, redirects etc...

Will post back when I get a sale. We'll see what the commission is then. Decided against buying from myself as that's just guaranteed to waste money....

Cant belive they just decided to cut commision from $20 to $3! Just at the point when I was starting to get ok sales too! what a joke!
 
Are you sure they haven't changed the promotion method to rebill? Could be it's $3 now and $18 in a week or so. Your CB reports will show if it's a rebill.

The marketplace says $19 per sale. They have not changed to rebill or anything like that. In the email they told me that they had cut commission because they are fed up of people on clickbank building 'robot sites' (whatever they are) to make sales.

I am furius with them. I have spent 3 months building and ranking my site and articles. I have a genuine blog for their product and whilst I do some black hat stuff to get it ranked I never do anything untoward or try to steal customers.. Now I have made two sales since they did this and got $7 commission whereas it should be over $40!

Anyway I am just waiting on a sale on my new clickbank acc to see what happens.....
 
maybe they buy trial offer after that they rebill full price . I don't think that you just got lover payouts . I'd say - dont worry
 
I had a product I was selling on clickbank change the commission to where I was making nearly nothing.

I just changed to a similar product and mentioned that this new one is the one I prefer now over the old one. Now I make the same money as I used to.

No thats not it! I emailed them as to why the commission was lower and they said they had changed it to $3.50 as they were sick of people on clickbank building 'robot sites'.

I am just trying to figure out what to do as this is the only product I promote and this is really bad for me...

anyway will see what happend when I get a sale on my new account..

Find similar product with higher commissions then . Good luck to you
 
Ya just try and change products. You don't want to sell a product for a company that rips their affiliates off. The reality is that they are bsing you so that they get more money.

Change products...asap. Don't give them the ability to make anymore money off of you.

Out of curiosity...did they change the product pricing?

Well after sending them a number of emails and being incredibly polite.. (despite being furious) it turns out that they have a 'whitelist' of clickbank affiliates who still get full commission.. They have put me on this now..

So if the same happens to you it may pay to be nice and not get too angry.....
 
Sounds like they were just trying to screw you over. Secondly, if the commission is listed as such on clickbank you should have been dealing with clickbank and letting them know your commission was being shaved.

They were tired of people on clickbank making robot sites? I would have first questioned what they meant by a robot site, secondly they should care less where the traffic is coming from as long as they are making sales. And then I would have had to tell them if they are tired of clickbank affiliates then maybe they should move their product to another affiliate site.

Yeah they are totally out of order and I am not very impressed at all. However I need the income so I'm not gonna cut my nose off to spite my face. Will be focusing my efforts elsewhere after this though.

The above is good advice.

If they use CB to sell their product, they cannot have 2 different commissions unless they have 2 different CB vendor accounts and you were using the lower commission site aff link. IF you were using the SAME CB aff link from the CB marketplace that had the higher commission, then they're violating CB terms. They can only have ONE commission rate per CB account unless CB has changed things recently.

Something smells BIG time here. CB pays the commission so I don't see how the vendor can have 2 different commisions for one site.

Wish I knew the vendor you're having this issue with as I'd like to see how they're doing that and I'd certainly talk to CB about it to see what the hell is going on.

I understand why you might not want to do that, though. Still ... that irks me to see them get away with that.

Start sending the traffic to a competitor and bury them.
 
**UPDATE***

I can not find the product on CB now. I am assuming it is only visible for 'whitelisted' affiliates... will see when they whitelist me tomorrow, hopefully.
 
It looks like it is time to to reverse engineer this product under your own name!!! That way you keep More money!!!!
