Commenting required account, how to automate?

Ok, I just spent the last 2 hours reverse engineering someones backlinks and I am absolutly amazed by the amount of work they have put into this, I just cannot understand how someone could do this... Ok, they have a phrase that is not even very competitive and have went out and built over 900 backlinks (according to site explorer) to an articlesbase article as their money site. MOST of their backlinks are comming from hand written comment spam on blogs and other sites that require an account on that site just to be able to make a comment... I mean really... who the hell does this on a keyword that gets less that 1000 searches a month on google? Now, the reason I kept researching this is because I was fascinated by the fact that 90% of the rest of the comments on these sites were blatant link spamming and I couldn't help but wonder how people were doing this, is it xrummer or something? A few examples of sites are ashleesimpson, maclife etc... Anyway, I guess what I am wondering is a) is this the kind of sites xrummer is able to penetrate? Also, I wonder if there is some form of manual mode in xrummer, or some other tool (less expensive than xrummer) that could do this job. I have scrapebox which is awesome, but it is not capable of penetrating these types of sites that require an account. After seeing the high PR and authority of these types of sites I can definately see the value in this. Anyway, I just thought it was interesting to find this human xrummer out there white-hatting this shit so hard with such a crappy keyword... I mean he is obliterating even the manufacturers website with twice the backlinks and managed to push the authority site down to position 4 on it... I mean, total over kill and it was like he was having fun because some of the comments were quite long and VERY much about the post (like you had to read the whole post and then think up a whole debate about it in order to be able to make the comment even)... Wierd... anyway, I aint gonna compete against this dude, hahaha movin on...

Rofl, maybe outsourcing commenting? Thats the only way I can think of, because I don't know of a program that can do this... have you checked to see what the sites run on? (sorry I didn't either) but maybe they run on the same platform or something and made something himself? If he did then he could scrape with scrapebox then import the URL list to his own program.

Maybe it's a buying keyword and he thinks he can convert many of those 1000 searches a month?

I'm pretty sure hes referring to site that require signup before you can comment on them. But still comments, nothing Xrumer sounds about that at least.

Oops, I forgot I started this thread. (I am kinda bad about that) Yea, the sites were all random platforms... I think like Dang said, he must have outsourced the commenting or he just really enjoys doing this sort of thing (like some social butterfly trying to make an extra buck while he's at it). But what I really wanted to know was how the other 90% of the people were spamming these sites because it was obviously automated... Maybe its some custom bots I guess... I did notice though that alot of them were a part of a 'network' of sites. Like the ashleesimpson one was (I forget exactly what now but) something like sonymusic is where you create the account and then you can comment on all the other artists who use that platform sites too with that same account. Some of the others you used openID or something similar and again you could use 1 account on multiple sites... Anyway, it was cool because the comments are not moderated on any of them, just had to have an account. Could be a killer bot!

I wouldnt of thought that it was Xrumer...I mean if you spend $550 on a tool then your generally pretty pro and your not gonna be using an article site as your money page.
