Commenting on Moderated Blogs

I think we can agree that if you get a comment to stick on a moderated blog, it is much more valuable than an auto approve blog (assuming all else is equal).

With that said, is it better to comment on an older post or newer post? I realize the page age (and perhaps PR) will make that link more valuable, but do people who have large websites tend to focus on their newer posts and stop moderating comments on older ones?
 
I have a number of well ranked Blogs and I moderate ALL comments and pay as much attention to old posts as new ones. For high PR Blogs I use SB to find them and them manually type in a useful comment related to the post. I get about 80% accepted that way. It's a lot slower than spamming but I'd rather have 10 high PR comments than a 1000 PR0
 
Manual comments are much better then the auto approved because you never loose your link from there and it is true that older post have more value then newer post because blogger will not remove the post and your link will be remain on that post
