Comment VS Profile Backlinks

I didn't find a post comparing these 2 types of links(I might be wrong), so I thought I'd write a little bit about these 2 most popular linking methods.

Everyone knows you can do mass commenting through scrapebox, or mass forum profile generation through xrumer. Some people like me are asking themselves - whats the difference between these two? Are they just another link, I mean what big of a difference can there be?

Actually - quite a bit. Let's start with comments.

Pro:

• SB is cheap if you want to do comment spamming
• Possible to comment on high pr sites
• Commenting is as easy as filling in name, website, comment, if you do it manually
• Mass link building on autoapprove blogs with your desired anchor text with generic comments.

Con:

• Everyone can comment on the same page. Sure, some pages make it harder through moderation, but you get my point - this means more OBL, and the more OBL, the less link juice for each one.
• Links are at the end of the page, meaning less link value.
• Manual high PR commenting means you probably need related comments, and can not use your desired anchor text as name due to Moderation.
• Direct mass comment backlinks to your main URL will get that Domain banned, making it impossible to direct link once you decide to do manual high PR commenting - at least on blogs with akismet.

Profile Backlinks:

Pro:

• Your Profile Page is yours alone. No one can add his links, meaning low OBL, high link juice.
• You can add several Links to the same page.
• Less moderation (I think).
• Your links are NOT in the footer area.

Con:

• Takes more time when done manual.
• There are no high PR profile pages, unless you do heavy backlinking. The domain PR might give some juice on it's own, but thats true for comments as well, and they can also have high pr pages on a high pr domain.
• Xrumer is expensive as hell in comparison.

Of course it's better to mix them to avoid footprints, but it's good to know the strengths and weaknesses, isn't it? If you know any more pro's or con's, feel free to post them here.

Both of them are the bless of the automation. Shoot as much as you can hoping you get some.

I see that the pros in commenting is that there is content in the page which makes the link more relevant opposed to profile links. But still commenting mean the link juice is too little due to high page obl.

I personally use commenting / profiles as 2nd payer after a first layer of web 2.0, article directories and blog posts so first layer features quality and 2nd layer features quantity.

Scrapebox is cheap and yes comments are more power full then profile in my view as you know what is the power of edu links or gov links!!!As for profiles they are Good but takes more money and time investment. Yes it gives you more juice then comments links.

i have been blasting about 3k comments to auto approve blogs i do not ping them i just let google find them naturally still think my main url will get banned? and would 3-10k comment links directed to Profile Links be worth it?

Well comments you get High Pagerank, and trust rank.
You sorta use the authority of the blog you're posting one, while profile link is newly created so not much authority.

I'm not sure thats entirely accurate. If the page is majorly spammed beyond belief than it might be an issue but for regular pages that arent raped with spam I don't think that the number of OBL makes any difference

I think google likes to calculate everything, and the link power that one page passes onto another page through an obl is no exeption.
sounds like you think google says "umm... 5 obl? all get the same link juice? 20? again, same link juice for each. But we dont like 50 obl or more, so there we cut the link juice down."
Sounds unrealistic to me. To me, it sounds much more realistic that google lets all OBL share the link juice, like that:

link juice per obl = total link juice / # of OBL on page

Of course, there are other factors as well that are important too...(linke placement of the links, footer, in content). Actually google is very careful with how it lets the link juice flow, i.e. with every website the link juice passes through, it loses strength by design. Of course there could be a constant in the calculation that says start above formula if the obl count is greater then X, but what would be the benefit of that? It would open the doors for link farms (comment spam being a modern one, guestbook spam, ordinary link farms, the "links" page on websites which is often only used for link exchange, etc ) to massively distribute link juice... Who benefits from this? spammers. On the other hand I simply see no drawback using this method. There could be another variable that says "If page has more then X OBL, mark as spam, stop crawling, stop passing link juice through because the individual link juice is so small anyways that we want to preserve cpu power for better tasks". This would make big sense.
