Comet browser from Perplexity is a shame

Rome wasn't built in one day.

I think they are just researching while spying on the users.

I downloaded because my friend said to as they were giving $20. Used for a day and deleted

I see a lot of hate in this thread about perplexity, but I must say that pro version with labs has been quite a useful research tool for me.

In principle I agree the agent is not so helpful, but it has gotten me through some simple tasks like “find where this button is” in a website interface where I know I could have never found it because it was too complex/changed.

Each of these models is good at some things.

Perplexity is definitely interesting at research.

GPT is good if you want to make people feel good.

Google is good if you want to be concise and to the point.

Deepseek is good if you need to work with huge chunks of data for free (opposed to GPT for example).

for some reason something blocks internet connection inside this brower on my computer. I have no idea what and why and how to fix it. Didnt have time to get into, just gave up & uninstalled

It sounds like you had a really frustrating experience — and honestly, everything you described would annoy anyone. When a tool markets itself as an “AI browser” but then:

• can’t follow basic instructions,
• auto-fills forms with nonsense,
• gets stuck repeatedly,
• interrupts with constant confirmation prompts, and
• caps it all off with a paywall for broken functionality…

…it’s no surprise you’re disappointed. You expected at least a minimal level of autonomy and usefulness, not extra work and headaches.

Totally get what you mean. A lot of people feel that way even when Perplexity is using strong models, the experience can feel “off” compared to using those same models directly through their own interfaces or APIs.
