Does YouTube actually use Content ID on SFX
I mean have you ever had a claim, or ever heard of anyone having a claim for a sound effect?
Not a jingle or tune – but a door closing, a whoosh, drinking sound, etc. I can't imagine it? I mean can you even claim copywrite for a door closing sound. So you will then sue all the other people 'selling' door closing sounds?
I can’t believe Content ID could even distinguish sounds as being unique. So if I put a 1 second whoosh into my video, a company could ‘take’ the video away from me [ads] – because it was ‘their’ whoosh?
The other reason I ask is that I own Komplete 13 – and recognise where many of these sound fx libraries create/get their sounds from. For the whooshes and the rises/falls/etc.
I can’t see anything written to prove that YT does use Content ID on SFX. So I presume they don’t. I presume if you whole sale reused other people’s SFX then that company may start a claim. But I would proffer the opinion that the YT algorithm [Content ID] isn't even looking for SFX. As I said I have searched Google high and low for proof of anyone ever having had a claim. If you have any evidence [a link I can read] please let me know. By evidence I don't mean SFX libraries T&C saying you can't use their sounds or you will get a claim against you. As I don't think those are based in fact.
I'm sure if they can prove you have lifted the sounds... then they have a case. Maybe. Oh, I don't know.
Just wondering… as I have used some free SFX, but read that the guys who give those sounds for free sometimes [months/years] later take the sounds/music off those sites and then make claims. So might be worth the extra time to just create all my own sounds with Komplete 13. Or not worry about it - if there is no Content ID system in place.
I mean really... is I use the sound of a door opening... they can take my video??? Hmm. Prove me wrong, if I am... I would love to know for sure.
