I just saw a commercial that Comcast Cable is going to put a 250 GB/month bandwidth cap on all its cable internet users. I think this is crap!! In my opinion you paid for internet service, not a certain amount of internet service! should be fine for most average surfers though.

even though I must admit I generally don't like restrictions of any kind, 250GB/month is the most generous cap I have seen so far

Someone like me, with 9 GB limit ( 40$ / month ) would completely agree with you :p

Faced with 50GB limit from the day I subscribed. (Not strictly enforced, I have gone over lightly many times but received a warning for a drastic overage)

Also, paying $6+ per US gallon of gas. Being a consumer sucks!

well I like to *cough* download Wii games *cough* that are 4.7 GB a peice so I would probably hit that cap every month.

There's a few ISPs in canada which have been doing this for years/months and its caused quite the uproar recently with yet another major ISP finally enforcing it. Want to know what the outcome was? Smaller ISPs started to pop-up offering the same or better service(s) without the cap. It didn't take me long to dump my old ISP.

9 GB limit? Now that wouldn't last long at all...... :D

I personally think this is their sad attempt to prevent piracy of things like movies, music, etc.
No, it's their lame ass way to keep from upgrading their network to handle the demand. I'm actually shocked that the bastards have finally commited to a hard limit. For the last few years it's been sold as unlimited, but they were banning people from going over some invisible cap. Even users with business class lines. They weren't even telling the warned or cut off users what the limit was. Once they got sued, they put out some vague BS limit that was well, the average user will be able to share 262,000 (whatever number) pictures without worrying about the limit. Stupid bastards. What really sucks is that they are my only option in this area...

Isn't this something Australians have been complaining about for years? I believe they are capped.

Probably an attempt to reduce p2p traffic seeing I'm sure there's users gobbling up their bandwidth 24/7.

Yes we are capped. I pay $110 a month for 40G peak time (12 pm to 2am) and 60G off peak (2am to 12pm). All depends on what I am doing. Not into downloading movies and games but still seem to reach high amounts of use.

250gb is not bad, that is over 8gb a day, but yeah broadband internet generally sucks in america for some reason

Yeah, this is http://www.montysmegamarketing.com/its-comcastic-not.

Still, that's a hell of a lot. If you're seeding torrents and whatnot, however...time to find new provider.

wow i hate comcst soooo much....i just had my service transfered back to them because i had to move it took them 4 days to get my internet working properly and now there capping my bandwidth...fuck that!

att or whatever i can get (besides comcast) here i come!

Thats exactly why i switched to ATT DSL. Same speed and cheaper. And on top of that, they gave me $300 to switch.

yeah DSL is sounding better and better. I have charter internet, which I think is a branch of comcast. we will see what the future brings

shit I dunno who is worse. Verizon or Comcast. MY dsl goes out everyday. I was going to switch to comcast lately till I heard this cap. Now I might just have to stick with it.
