Comcast Cable Internet - Sucks Balls

Comcast is retarded


so for the last month i been stuck on the same ip, witch is no big deal except for the fact that this IP is blocked by half the Internet.

I am unable to access 50% of the web

I am unable to access 90% of my affiliate programs/networks

Can't log into my bank or my payoneer accounts

And the list goes on and on

when i contact comcast i get what i should have expected a bunch of dee dee's

saying that i have to contact the sites individually about the issue and they have no way to force my modem to pick up a new ip so i'm just stuck not being able to do half of what i do on the net with out having to use a proxy (happens to be a pain in the ass)

they swear its not the ip yet in the next room over i am able to connect to all the sites (which is on a separate modem/connection from comcast)

any idea's on what i can do, i know if i disconnect the modem for 48 or so i have a pretty good chance of getting a new ip but i don't think i ever been with out a connection for that long.


or maybe the real question is what should i do for the next 48 hours lol :eek:

Have you demanded to talk to a manager? Their bottom-rung service reps are useless, but if you get loud enough and don't back down, they'll do it for you. I've never had this kind of problem with Comcast, but I've had my fair share of issues and as soon as I got to a manager, my problems got fixed.
 
yea i spoke with several managers, they gave me the number two there customer security and abuse department.. and they were unable to do any thing has well honestly not sure if the people that work at Comcast know what the Internet is.
 
how about changing your mac address? instead of your ip and you get a new ip address?
I know I use hide my mac address works fine for me.

Cable connection doesn't work like DSl from what i understand, therefore that wouldn't work
 
I use cablevision and it works just fine you just have to disconnect the modem for a few seconds and you have a new ip
 
i have attempted to disconnect/reset it for a couple hours still same ip
 
you can change comcast ips

go to you tube and search video on using a linksys router to change your ip

i rotate about 100 ips a day takes less then 1 min

all you need is a linksys router for about 50 bucks
 
When you have to use a program called "Hide my mac address" or something similar to change or spoof your mac address. The after your mac address is changed then you disconnect your modem and connect again. This is the way I do it, sorry I was vague before in my explanation.

I have Road Runner and I keep the same ip when I unplug my modem and plug it back in.
 
i change my comcast ip every day...its simple...

get a linksys router
go download macshift
use macshift to fake spoof a mac adress
go to your linksys router admin control and hit "clone mac adress."
unglug router
unplug modem
plug router back in
plug modem back in
wait for both to reset and you have a new ip... has worked for me every time
 
ok so i got my ip changed still blocked it's even a different sub rang.. yet i can use tor or a proxy to connect to all the site i cant with comcast
 
Every proxy ever works with my comcast connection. Even if I was blocked from 100% of the internet with my regular IP, I wouldn't trade that.

got to command promp .. type in ipconfig /all

it will tell you your lease time for the ip disconnect your modem wait well past the lease renewal. 9 out of ten times new ip. I will also check out what idk12 said.

I have Comcast too, and I had the same issues today. I have been with this IP for about a month, but suddenly today I couldn't even access this forum (and a couple other sites) without a proxy.

So, I changed my laptop's MAC with MadMACS and cloned it onto my router, reboot, new IP, and it fixed the problem instantly.

I change my Comcast IP whenever needed via spoofing a MAC and cloning it to my router. It's not good for privacy concerns, but it is useful for more practical purposes.

So, in the end, I'm not really sure why I had limited web access earlier today...but it's all better now. :)
