Hey all,

I am in the early stages of developing and promoting a website on a a niche that is of interest to me. My goal is to create a news/blog platform for this niche that contains:

1) Personally generated content anywhere from 500-1000 words with pictures
2) Autoposted content using RSS feeds

My autoposted content is being properly accredited with nofollow links and contains only a snippet of the full article. I'm truly trying to play by the rules and provide a site that adds value to each user.

That being said, ranking for keywords and making money is also important. My question is on whether or not having 1000 nofollow article snippets on a website with maybe 10 unique, full length articles will reflect poorly in SERPS. My gut tells me to build a site that adds the most value to the end user, but if the autoblog hurts my ranking and nobody finds the site, then its not worth it.

From a manual review point of view the website is clearly laid out and easily to navigate through unique and auto content.

Thanks for anyone willing to share thoughts or personal experiences on this approach!

I'm actually thinking of trying something similar. Interested to see how this works out.

Snippets shouldn't have too much of a negative effect - I read that google actually likes it when you collect content from multiple sites.

Thanks d_nov.

Anyone else have personal experience with this?

I'll go ahead and log my personal experience with this. My domain is about 5 months old and up until now all SEO/link building/social bookmarking was done manually by me. I targeted two keywords and one keyword never ranked on any search engine, while my other dances around page 3 of both Bing and Yahoo.

I was a little surprised that Google never ranked some of my higher quality articles anywhere in the top 100 (there is some really bad content in the top 100 that should not be hard to top). So I'm going off an assumption that the constantly changing content and short article snippets are hurting my rankings on my full unique content.

I am now turning off the feeds and going to hold any unique content for a short while and see if this has any impact.

I am working ona similar idea.

Really good, unique content mixed in with auto blog comments.

I'll be watching this to see your results; and I'll post my own as I see any effects...

This would make an interesting experiment: create two blogs, one with only the original content and another with the original content plus autoblog feeds.
