Hello guys, I just found a very good domain but the .com of it is already taken (parked and not active).

My question is, should I go for the .net version?

P.S: I've never used a .net domain before.

Thanks.

ah... if its a really good one yea. You have to pass the number of traffic of the .com site tho.

People would trust .com more than .net . But I could be wrong. If you can promote your site well, the .net should work just fine.

Thanks, guys. I've decided not to go for the .net version and just get a good .com domain name.

a large image web editor owned by envato/themeforest is placeit.net (i love this btw)

.net is good for web related niches. If you want to build a normal money site (contents or services are not web related), then go with .com

Why don't you try to buy the .com if it's that good. Just reach out to the owner and offer them $100 or something small like that, see what they say

Saying that though, new gtlds are awesome nowadays anyway, and you've got .ai and .io that are both really good. Could just get the .io version of the domain?

I don't think net domains are bad, i feelthat among com org and gov is among one of the main TLD, Only case i wouldnt use them is if I were to start an e-commerce site.

Since the .com is already gone, .net will be right for you. With good branding you can make it popular as well.

You could try making an offer for it? Thats how I got my first domain. Don't use GD's broker service if possible.
