.com or .shop extension for a shopping site?

I want to buy a domain name & hosting, which domain extension should I go for?
The website is for shopping purpose, an e-commerce/online store, going to try an online store for the first time.

[.shop] extension is there to buy and I think short names might be available too.
or is there anything else I should be aware of
.com might be good for the traffic I guess.

I'm confused, please help guys.
Also, share some suggestions for my first online store if possible.

both are possible:
.com is supposed to rank better, but I say "supposed", as this was never clearly studied to my knowledge, and other factors may favor choosing .shop
.shop you have more choices for the domain name
I would say check both and see what are the best choices you find on each name extension, then pick one.
 
I would go with the .com for my main site and then maybe use the .shop as a landing page that you put different promo on
 
All extensions seem to rank the same for me with the proper seo. I still tend to buy the .com if it is available. Don't forget that Google is giving huge increases in your ranking if you purchase and set up and ssl certif. I have a multi site one i use for all my domains. ...

.com looks more professional and people trust .com more so I recommend this.
 
If you get an exact keyword to your store, go with .shop. Or else .com is better.

It's not about ranking. It's all about being easy and memorable.
