Is .com good for ranking on non-english google? or is it garbage?

If you are in a non English-speaking country, I would suggest you to consider buying an IDN.com. As far as I can see, if the search matches your domain you would be ranked top easily.

It depends of the languaje you use and it's extension in the world...
if you use some languaje as, for example Dutch, it's better if you use it's country extension.

But let's assume that we are using French or Spanish...languajes used in diverse countries of the world, a .COM it's a good idea to rank in all these countries at teh same time.

I think .com is the best choice after exact country domain.

I depends on the language of your website and also the specific country in question

Big part of my sites are non english and they rank pretty well.
