Here's some fresh story.
Last week i bought one domain at 1and1 and few hours later i found this thread (and many others on other websites and forums) talking about a scam.
While I was waiting for 1and1 to approve and actually register my new domain (this takes few days at 1and1), i bought the same domain name at namecheap.
Few days later, in the mail i received from 1and1 says that they cant register that domain because it's already in use and that they will not charge me any fee because i didn't buy anything. Quite fair.
After that, i was about to cancel 1and1 because i don't plan to have any business with them in the future.
During the process of cancellation, they sent me an invoice and took from my bank account $0.99 saying that it's a fee for buying a domain name (which btw i didn't buy at 1and1) !?
Unbelievable !!!!!
Who gave them the right to take money from my bank account for nothing??
