College Campuses For Offline Marketing

Hi everyone!

Short and simple the best and most responsive audience I have ever had is the college campuses around Boston since there are so many of them. It is a college kid town and most kids these days either blog or look for extra ways to make money.

You won't believe how many sales, sign ups and just pure attention I get from college students.

Just be cool, stop a group as they are walking towards you, quickly explain your business and give out a business card. I always have great experiences doing so but many friends of mine don't like this method because they don't feel comfortable approaching and stopping strangers - I do understand but if you want success you need to push through some uncomfortable situations.

Also to keep this very fun you can do this - when you see an extremely attractive girl just approach her and when she says something mean on autopilot such as "not interested" or "I have a boyfriend" go ahead and bust her frame by being all confused about what she means then explain to her what you stopped her for in the first place. 9 out of 10 time they start apologizing and you end up promoting your business anyways and as a bonus sometimes can pull off numbers and dates if you play your cards right

Plus everyone loves the fact that my name is Avo and the name of my business is Avocado Plugins. How can you not love it right? Everybody loves an Avocado haha

This is fun, keeps you social and connected with the world and also helps your public speaking skills strangely enough.

I constantly do this, since as a uni student in the UK I constantly roam the campus areas and it's rather easy to do. Also mass emailing students is a possibility, and if done right can reap some pretty good rewards.

What should be kept in mind, is that if you manage to look like a pedophile while starting to "promote your services" to the girls, it might end in pepper spray. But yeah, naturally this is a good way to promote if students fit your target audience, as a Bentley dealer might not find as good success as a cheap study book seller etc.

I am in my mid 20s so I don't know how I would look like that in front of girls who are very close to my age but anyways. Also if you know what you are doing and are not pushy and friendly you will massively decrease the possibility of anything going wrong. All about social calibration my friend

Yes mass emailing could work as well just have to be careful and ask for permission from school faculty. At least that's how the system works here.

Hahaha, good point, and thanks for the tip OP. I leave 10 mins from a large University and there are students all over the place.

Its the best test ground! Everybody feels like they will conquere the world so you can sell them on any idea!

Campuses are definitively a good way to reach a responsive audience. I often see marketing teams around, doing different kinds of promotions or handing out flyers.

I live nearby a large university, and have noticed how students buying habits are quite isolated within the campus vicinity. They buy a lot of stuff "offline", which they could have purchased for half the price online (i.e. health and exercise supplements, electronics). I went and talked to some of these small shops, and despite their relatively high prices, they reported that certain popular products were sold out. I think this might be a good opportunity to set up something, perhaps a droppshipping site, and try hand out flyers and put up posters to get students to use it. However, since a lot of them don't seem to buy stuff online in the first place, I'm not sure I could get them to change their habit.

I always wanted to put some ads in student papers. Got close a few times, but never went through with it. On my old campus, like 10 yrs ago, everybody read the paper, and it was free and everywhere. If you can buy an inexpensive ad in the student paper, you can make very good money with the right ad.

Just wear a bangbus t-shirt with STAFF printed on the back and promote to the guys (especially dating). LOL

Carol and I have had some success posting flyers on college campuses. If you have an offer that appeals to college aged students, a well written flyer can make a bundle.

This is fantastic advice. I had all of my original offline success at college campuses.
