Hi everyone, A friend of mine showed me this forum and I appreciate all the valuable information.

I go to a major college with 40k plus students and a huge campus, and really think there are ways I could be monetizing this offline traffic. I have a few ideas, such as the thread about scholarships. I was also thinking those "paid to take surveys" campaigns or something relating to textbooks (since their so expensive!). Has anyone had any solid success with any methods on college campuses?

    Thanks!

There are many creative methods for monetizing a college campus. I've seen several students on campus working for brands like American Eagle, Hollister, and Abercrombie. They are affiliate marketers and get paid for sales that use their coupon code.

Are you talking about primarily using flyers to direct people to the offer?

    Yeah what do you mean?

I have similar access to a university and would love to hear methods people have used to monetize such situations.

What methods work the best etc...

Try mobile offers - $6 to $12 CPA.

Think of a *creative* spin on it or even make the landing page look "similar" if you know what I mean

Get some flyers up and start a Facebook event/group as well.

ya buy a website domain, have it redirect to a CPA ad, make color fliers (hear they're worth the extra money) "spam" classrooms/advising offices etc. this is my plan i think it will work, basically whats in that other thread

Yes, that is what I am talking about...fliers!!!
Here is a tip (what I do) find out what time the library/computer center opens. Say 8:00am, get there 10 minutes early so you are the first one there and put few small fliers at every PC before they fill up. Also, wear a backpack so you blend in. I carry the fliers in a small bag that looks like your lunch. Blend in and be fast... If the school has wifi (most do) and flier every where kids are studying (playing on FB)
    This works!

    Good luck!

I plan to try flyers at my local college. Im not going to personally pass them out though. I need someone thats already a student at that college. They can then do it when they are already there. And there wouldnt be any problem with someone being on campus thats not supposed to be. Also, sure they could say they passed out all the flyers but instead just throw them away. So to insure they do pass them out, I will put them on a commission basis. and not on per how many they pass out, but on how many leads I get.

I use to have a cell phone store on the main drag in a University town. The best time to market everything is when the new classes start in September.

I could generally work some kind of "deal" - what's in it for them- with merchants on the street to put fliers or posters up in their windows to hire people for part time jobs.

Generally there is an orientation week before regular classes start. and that is the best time to start.

I would hire 4 to 6 people to stand at main corners, in the food courts and walk through the different coffee houses. After the first month business drops like a rock for new phones. But at the beginning it's was a tsunami.

I've successfully passed out flyers around my campus basically getting the student's attention with "Want better grades by studying less"?

I had a website on the flyer that once visited redirected to an affiliate offer selling a system that can get you better grades with less study and more time for beer, socializing, chilling, etc...

Just make sure your flyer is an eye-catcher and that the sales page is a good one. The price should be reasonable, since most College kids are borderline *broke*. But they WILL dish out if the promise is attractive!

    Should work for you too:)

Flyers can work well if the landing page is good and customized to fit the college. But for $1 submits its not the greatest idea. Look into selling the emails you can get. I'm sure people on here would buy it.

You can put flyers virtually anywhere at a university. I've seen them on light posts, trash cans (thought that's not ideal unless it's a big, easily-readable flyer; who wants to stoop down?), walls, etc.

The thing is, everyone else is using flyers too. Make yours stand out. Make sure it has color - the premium is worth it, but if you're really concerned, then find a local print shop and bring your own paper; you can really drive the price down like that.

Also, if it's bigger than the rest, of course it'll get noticed as well. Maybe even just a 11"x7" or a legal size. 11"x7" isn't bigger than the standard 8.5"x11", so while it doesn't provide as much printable area, the longer shape helps attract attention since it's not as common. Same with legal size.

Also, if you can afford to hire someone to pass flyers or notices out, it will be worthwhile. Usually, college students don't say "no" to someone handing them something; they take it and move on. It's best to be direct, so rather than asking, "Hey, do you want to learn about [...]?" say, "Here, take this flyer to learn more about [...]." I often see many students around campus with the same flyers as me when people passed them out in this manner. One I remember was for Paranormal Activity 2.

A sneaky but effective way to hand things out is to make the person think you need help. I only say that because someone else used this same tactic on me the other day. I admit, I should have known he was going to try to advertise, but he looked confused and asked if I was a student there, so I initially thought he needed help with something, and I didn't have the will to tell him I wasn't interested when he started his pitch.

In that above case, the man wasn't actually selling anything. He apparently a "monk" handing out the book called Bhagavad Gita. Sure, he asked for a donation, but the book was free. I saw another student talking to another monk just minutes later, and between one class I saw two people with the same book, so I'm assuming this technique is effective.

Here is something i thought of not to long ago. What you do is wait til its the beginning of the semester right before everyone is buying books. you then go to your teachers and your friends teachers and etc.... to find out what books people will need for that class

for example math and science. You then go to your university's book store and find the price, after that go and find the same book online at a cheaper price. Mark it up for a profit. From here you would go find out when that teachers class times are. wait outside the class and when it ends pass out a flyers advertising you have the books for that class at a cheaper price. Finally you rinse and repeat with different subjects like humanities, and biology

but this method only works at the beginning of semesters before people buy their books

Lots of good info in here! I think that I have to decide if I'm going to do some quick email submit or a product that costs money (i.e Click Bank for studying, etc...). I think I'll do both, and report back to you guys what happens.

    Thanks for the infos.

I will try to push cpa offers with small flyers (business card size) so people can put it in there pocket and bring him home where the computer is.
I keep you updated on that! There is a lot of different story on this method so I guess I have to try it myself!
