Collecting emails via "register now"

Hi all, I am a IM newbie and I am looking at ways to collect real email addresses. The method is not new, in fact all sites that require log-ins need some form or email exchange.

I plan to do a landing page where it says, register your email and hit submit. After hitting submit, I tricked them into thinking there is a e-coupon but acutually there is none. Where are your views on this method of collecting emails. Will I get many rubbish emails?

Possibly you will get rubbish emails, try to give away some real freebies rather than fooling them like some ebook or something that you think people will really come and submit their real email addresses and will be tuned for updates from your side.
