Code Academy or tree house to learn coding ?

I am just starting out and looking for a good way to learn some basic stuff, now before you say go on the web there are many free courses and sites to learn, I have heard good things about CA and TH...so I just wanted to get some feedback from the BH'ers here....

Yea sorry about that..I should have been more clear from the start.

I want to brush up on my HTML, CSS for my landing pages and also php for tracking conversions and gathering data for my conversions..when I drive traffic to my offer pages....

I see, well codecademy doesnt look bad for a starter, their "HTML & CSS" seems pretty basic in content.

If you are not against books, shop.oreilly.com/product/9780596527334.do is an awesome one for CSS and you can find it on most warez sites.
If you prefer video trainning lynda.com/CSS-tutorials/for-designers/216-2.html same as above, you can find on most warez sites.

If you are not a begginer, I would recommend you to take a look more deep into what you would like to boost on your skill into these specific things and search for a more specific content to learn from.

There is also a free tutorial at learncss.tutsplus.com/ seems some what more straight forward then codecademy.

As for PHP, if you already have some basic knowledge, I would recommend you to get into a framework and learn more about object orientation, frameworks provide you with nice features as well as a easy way for you to code most of your needs picking up a framework such as symfony2 or codeigniter or zend will surely help you. In some cases using a framework may be overkill but overall for making websites and several other things is a fine way to.

There are plenty of books and video tranning that features available frameworks such as the ones I have mentioned which should be fairly easy to find.

Codecademy is great. I have heard amazing things about Lynda too. Dunno about the other one you mentioned, never tried it.

I learned HTML through experience, getting what I needed and editing it. A while ago my dad said he would pay me if I did some coding lessons, but I wasn't interested back then. After I had some experience in HTML, I took the HTML courses in CodeAcademy. I would say that CodeAcademy is a good starting point for understanding HTML, but the best way to learn is by making your own stuff. (For me, it was free google sites)

Yeah definitely codecademy if you are a beginner. I'm a total noob to HTML. I've been writing VERY basic stuff for about 9 months, but now I feel more confident editing and writing html and css from learning every day at codecademy. I tried C through some opensource courses from Harvard and it was so boring. The prof. wasn't very good for my learning style, but codecademy is much more practical and hands on.

Actually I take that back. Treehouse looks well good! I'd say go with both. The only thing I don't like is that there is nothing about C on codecademy. Yet...

I have used CodeCademy for a while and I think they are really good. Try to invest into some books also, good to have by yourside to easy look up things as well as when you're out travelling.

I've learned Ruby on Rails with Treehouse and i can vouch for them. Their courses are extremely well designed and your hand is being held all the way through the end. They have video tutorials, which you have to make sure to have understood before you pass the online exam, and sometimes you even have practical exercises (E.G build a webpage which does this & that), you get great support from the community as well.

It's a well spent 50$ a month if you're really serious about using this in a career

Codacademy is a great source to learn and brush your basics, also you will find very valuable podcasts by the lynda podcasts too plus as you work you will gain experience and nothing is learnt better than from experience.
