Consumers won't know? So you are deceiving consumers? No experts are investing in .co because it's not practical. As a domainer since 2003 (and witness of many many landrushes), I can assure you that .co will not "catch on". It will turn into a .tv and .me. Have fun with your wasted money. Any expert domainer who is investing in .co is getting domains that make sense for Colombia.

Noobs who just recently found out about domains within the last year are getting the crap.co because THEY have been deceived by the marketing ploy put on by GoDaddy and other registrars. Again, have fun with your wasted money. Not my problem!

The sites you referenced have pushed brands. They are developed sites. You guys are talking about .co domain future. You can brand ANY TLD. Those references mean nothing. In these cases, .co shares the same fate as any ccTLD - nothing more nothing less.
 
I have 3 dot co s', dont plan on getting any more.. thanks for the detailed info guys ;).. seems like .info is much better

Also, to chime in on the "consumers won't know it's Colombia" point, it doesn't matter. If you're talking average consumers, how about the fact that when folks are relaying the web address, it's very easy for an "qrs.co" to sound like a "qrs.com"? If you want to talk "consumer standpoint" then really go into the fact that similar sounding names often cause confusion. Also, until the average consumer gets used to the .co domain, they'll likely mis-remember the ending as the one they're more used to, which is the standard .com - thereby giving .coms of the domains people have invested in a big push... at least to start.

Again, I'm not completely downplaying the new domain - as with even a .co.uk or a .de - if you know what you're doing, you can get almost anything to rank (let's be honest here). But the point is, with the downsides and the fact that these don't have age/a history going for them, aside from mere speculation, are they really worth the current hype? I'm not going to be a guinea pig paying a premium to find out, that's for sure. Then, if they do catch this big wave then ok, I'll hop in and snatch one up for something obscure like basketweaving.co and be ok with that :D.
 
I own a couple of solid .CO domains that I'm going to develop out (probably as simple auto-wordpress adsense blogs). Only time will tell if they net me anything but I feel it was an educated risk.

I'm curious if I'll see any .com -> .co typo traffic. That's what I was banking on. These domains are all in that $2+ per click adsense range. So even if they have low traffic, they could still pay off.

I wouldnt bank on getting significant typo traffic unless you have a domain like sex.co. It's always best to buy a domain that you wish to develop and brand.
 
why to wait
I think the advantage of the .co domains is that I can park a very short memorable names

It's only crap if you don't develop it. The most important thing about .co is that it is both keyword rich, short, and memorable. But yeah if you dont develop it then it's a waste of cash.

Oh and a side-note, everybody in this world markets, its a fact of life. You cannot avoid it. It's marketing that got you to buy every domain you ever bought.

I have about 6 Domains, Some are pure dictionary domains :)
Hope they will have a future.
 
I bought a keyword domain and I have received a lot of type in traffic which is awesome. I put a site on there so it's been cool thus far.
 
Co domains will be like .Biz domains.
That's how I see it.

Can't see the potential here.
 
Surre..How about I keep selling domains and you can continue "targeting keywords with 50-100 monthly searches"
