.co future

all these new extensions are getting pretty ridiculous imho

Why not? Because you can get the same keyword in many other extensions.

Exactly! If it doesn't matter, then why not get a .me or a .tv or a .whatever else is new-ish and cool?

Gotta agree there. Well, at least the hype that comes ages before and the frantic rush to grab up many of them "while they're still available".

Im gonna be developing investment advice near the end of this year. Definitely wont be able to rank number one on my own, but with the help of fellow investors its a possibility. Definitely gonna bring a great return on the $30 investment. Irony much?

besides all the debate it would be a nice brandable domain name.co where .tv n .me and .whatever doesn't sounds nearly as good.So it would be better for web 2.0 sites which are depended on viral traffic not on google.twitter got this extension exactly for this,it looks nice. This extension looks professional and trustworthy to human eyes.I don't think everyone depends on google for their business.

.Co domain is going to be the highest rated domain soon, .Co domain stats are increasing all the time. Including myself i already have few good .Co domains.

.. which explains why you are in support of the crap (.co). haha

twitter is using t.co, so i think .co will be popular soon.

the only reason twitter is using t.co is bc of its 3char length in a restricted 140 char environment. not because its some kind of "next big thing". js.

I also think it will be a flop and waste of $ unless you have 100s or 1000s of .co's. popularity of .co will perform just like .cm did. The only ppl banking off .co so far is Columbia, ICANN, and the registrars :)

.Co's are super powerful when it comes to getting typo names.

Sure Google recognizes the .co domains but do people actually think they will be able to compete against the .com's who have been around for years? It's hard enough to rank with a .org or .net let alone a .co which has zero domain age.

There are going to be experts who know how to milk this for what it's worth and there will be a few people fortunate enough to make money on their domain.

.co domains seem to be the latest craze, sell while you can.

Ive found my .org's rank just as well as .com.
The two I have had no luck with are .biz and .info (both terrible)

.org is fine.

I don't know why we are still discussing this. Not only google, but every search engine has stated that .co is a "premier site extension" (Google's phrase) and that it ranks with .com and .org.

Why .biz and .info are so crap is anyone's guess - but they really are crap

Scritty

To be honest, I find that only .info has trouble ranking occasionally, but even still they can rank well. I'm all for the .co revolution.

Now that's a good point, but the same point could be made for .cm. I don't know though... still going to wait on the dust to settle.

BTW, speaking of banking from misspelled .coms:

.co future looks very grim. unfortunately, .co is and always will be a ccTLD for colombia.

"We will rank .co domains appropriately if the content is globally targeted. Webmasters will soon have the functionality to be able to specify this by using the geotargeting options in Google Webmaster Tools."

Bloggerdon,

Regardless of the news you post.. .co will and always is a ccTLD for colombia. Nothing more, nothing less. Just as .tv is and always will be a ccTLD for tuvalu.

Anyone suggesting something different is short-changing you and trying to make a buck off of you through marketing deception.

LOL keep dreaming mizdream

just like all the other "Revolutionary" domains.. remember .cc ?

it will die out soon.

F*ck .co. I haven't managed to get even a single one. I paid applications fees and now they all will go for auctions anyway. I hope to get back the refundable registration fees $300 per name!

LOL @ the haters.

Do you think when a consumer sees a .co domain they will say "Oh noo! thats columbia's cctld"

how many people do you think even know .tv is for Tuvalu?

Pure speculation? It's a ccTLD my friend. Basically, you are registering KEYWORDS.colombia. Looks like you've already been deceived by the huge marketing ploy the registry and others (GoDaddy) have put on.

Anyone with any sense about domains knows that the registries do whatever they can to get money. Many of you have been decieved into registering ccTLD domains.

.CO is NOT a gTLD .CO will NEVER BE a gTLD.

My friend, consumers have no idea that .CO is .Colombia. Yes, registries push new extensions because that's one of the ways they make money, obviously. If Google stated that .CO will be treated as a gTLD then it doesn't matter if it's a ccTLD.
