personally, i hope that they will rang globally. that way i can later buy tons of medium competition keyword domains and bank some $$$.. good luck ranking with buyviagra.co or carinsurance.co
Well i know how to make money for it but .co needs to be more popular for me to make a good amount + i thought i might aswell grab it since it was a good name.

lolol you fucking noob do some research before flaming. Google have said they will recognize them as true global domains.
The native language of Columbia is not english, its pretty obvious what sites are aimed directly at Columbia (not many) and which ones are global.

Well Google has indeed indicated that they will recognize .co as international, but the proof is in the pudding right? If you can find some good url's then for $30 or so, it may not be a bad gamble.

Sure Google recognizes the .co domains but do people actually think they will be able to compete against the .com's who have been around for years? It's hard enough to rank with a .org or .net let alone a .co which has zero domain age.
There are going to be experts who know how to milk this for what it's worth and there will be a few people fortunate enough to make money on their domain.
.co domains seem to be the latest craze, sell while you can.

.co is a country extension and always will be. To those, who said ".co will be recognized as a gTLD". I am not even sure if your source is correct, but if it is then they also said it would be similar to .tv and .me globalization. Where have they gone? No where.
PLUS, this is a ccTLD. I hate to say it, but you've bought lemons. Anyone who has been in the domain industry for 7+ years knows that these are flops. There are no secondary market buyers. If you have fallen victim to "marketing" of .co then you have been deceived. The only potential .co has is for business and organizations and information sites geared towards colombia.

Pure speculation at the moment. It all depends how people embrace it. So far, 300k+ domains registered in less then a week for .co
No investment is without risk. You either invest in it and hit big when it's embraced by people, or lose a couple bucks if it's not.

I wonder will this ever happen:
- imagine somebody to develop a legitimate .CO domain into a popular website, assume it is a good dictionary single keyword .CO domain.
- imagine that corresponding .COM is "parked" or hosts MFA site
- imagine that the owner of .CO sues and wins the .COM, on the basis of customer's confusion with a better established .CO site
- now once that happens, that would be a game changer for .CO
- similar things already happened before, for example DELICIO.US is now DELICIOUS.COM
I think there is a significant amount of people in the digital economy interested in a .CO NOT being a flop. Just because .COM has so very little good names left. So there may be a WILL to support .CO from the following groups of influence:
- search engines will rank it as a global TLD (and Google already signaled that)
- some new entrepreneurs / investors / marketers will be willing to try building .CO websites, so maybe some of .CO will be developed into popular brands.
- if at least one popular .CO will win a case against undeveloped / parked .COM (on the basis of customers confusion), then .CO will see a new life right after that

Pure speculation? It's a ccTLD my friend. Basically, you are registering KEYWORDS.colombia. Looks like you've already been deceived by the huge marketing ploy the registry and others (GoDaddy) have put on.
Anyone with any sense about domains knows that the registries do whatever they can to get money. Many of you have been decieved into registering ccTLD domains.
.CO is NOT a gTLD .CO will NEVER BE a gTLD.

Buying and selling domains/sites isn't my area, so I say this from the standpoint of just being someone who puts up sites, monetizes them, and holds onto them. I'd rather sit things out and wait to see where things go because I'm feeling like yeah, so what if they're recognized as gTLDs, in the end... like someone said, the fact that they're so new means that you still will have a fight in trying to top established domains.
So, if down the line I intensely want to rank for knittingpatterns and the person who bought knittingpatterns.com is just some spinster with a blog, and the other TLDs are taken and just being parked then ok, it may be worth it to give knittingpatterns.co a shot. But I don't think I'll be prospecting and buying up a bunch of .cos just on the chance that they'll get popular and people will want them (even IF Twitter has switched over). I went crazy buying new domains to rank for during the .me wave and learned my lesson. So I'll leave the prospecting to the experts who can actually do something with .cos (well, potentially).
