    >>I havnt tried this. Just came up with this idea the other night. I think it could be very profitable and very scalable.<<

I was at a club on Saturday. There was this guy going around taking pictures of people, and there picture would be up on his website. He would hand his card to everyone who got their picture taken, and all his business card said was his website.

Naturally most people, are going to go to the website to see their picture. For several reasons including people like to have fame, even if it is very mild fame. They also want to see how they look, and also put it on their myspace/facebook.

I would guess 75% of people would go to the site the next day.

I am not going to go to depth into this. You can expand upon it.

Anyway....Go out to clubs or have someone go out and take pictures of EVERYONE in the club and hand out business cards. Say something like "Your picture will be featured at www.yoursite.com" on the card.

For your site, set up the page where it says something like "Did you have your picture taken? Do you want to see it? Type in your email address in the offer below to view your picture"

Have a email submit or other type of offer. After they complete the offer they gain access to the club pics. Just upload all the pics on a simple page on the back side of the site after they complete the offer. Separate them by club and date.

Has the ability to be scaled huge.

Sounds like a nice idea to work with CPAs, but would be suspicious all your leads came from one geographic area

This wouldn't be suspicious at all, it's called offline advertising.

Maybe its just me but as someone who's worked in the club industry.. If you weren't already recognized as a photographer in the scene or working for that club... I'm pretty sure you'd be asked to stop taking pictures... However I'm sure there are still ways around this... plus if you just put business cards out in a nightclub (like the near the bathrooms or something) people will tend to pick them up and I'm sure if they are drunk enough they'll even check on your website to see why they got your business card... Anyway not a bad idea... but it probably needs some tweaking...

when your leads start not converting etc. they might get suspicious.

However, throw up a fake ref page etc. and throw in some junk traffic and you're golden.

I know some people with some seriously good photo skills, and would love to do this.

Oh, and keep a track of the IP's that have completed the offer, that way you won't make people will out the offer twice ;). Easy enough to do!

You can spread this out post on craigslist for people who go clubbing make extra cash after they have handed pictures in. so you could hit up like 10 clubs a night.

we have done a lot of websites for nightclubs/bars etc... their gallery sections are usually the busiest part of the website driving a ton of traffic so people do go looking!! :)

tell the club managers you will give the a copy of all the pictures the next time you go there... they should let you in for free and get you a couple of free drinks and of course theres always lots of eye candy too... so a win win situation for a cheap night out! LOL

make sure you ask management first though!

I used to work promo for a company that did this exact method...they had no internet ad campaigns ...they actually were sponsored by all the local clubs/beer distributors/bars and restaurants and sold the pics to the patrons to raise money

I can attest that not only does it work pretty well to get people to the site and build a brand name at a local level but its really fun and a great way to break the ice with tons of drunk girls, if you do it enough you tend to make relationships with club employees and end up never really needing to buy drinks or pay cover.

I never had an issue getting through a door
The clubs and bars love it, its called FREE promotion they may even be interested in buying ad space and they will pay traditional print copy prices.

Print up a tshirt-make a quick page, pre-populate with some randomly grabbed bar pics from myspace, throw up a fake history and contacts, ad price list

Do a little review, very positive of a local club...then just call the bar on a monday or tuesday morning and ask to speak to a bar manager or club owner, introduce yourself or company, tell them you will be sending a street team, promoter over and ask when the best night would be. Its a fun time if your outgoing and like to get hammered..the pics dont really have to be that good.

If your not outgoing....hiring a street team, of hot promo models to walk around with you is fun to (10-12/hr)

i do variations of this all the time over the last couple years, for example, i like to go to music festivals...i make up a page, go to teh show with my digital, take shots and then give cards or even just write the address down on some random shit...get home, post them ,usually get around 200-300 dollars in paypal (i price the photos real cheap) its a good way to make lots of friends meet people and make a couple bucks

I do lots of offline promotions and event gigs...im here trying to learn how to incorporate more online advertsing so I can do these type of gigs w/o havinfg to stress if they are profitable.

Ive sold 2 foosball tables, for a pretty high commission in the last 3 months (when i started w/ aff ads) through offline promoting at bars and clubs

oh yeah...to do it right for the club technique...you want to do more than just throw a card at them....you will want a small model release..chat em up, have the web info on a tear off, ask for an email on the release...so you can email them and remind them

its cheaper tp since you can print those yourself

I don't know in which country did you see this "take pictures in club method" and you thought that is something unique, because in my country there are hundreds of this kinde of websites. And all this in a country forgotten by the world. Even in my small town there are 3 or 4 like this. Some are as a section of some local newspapers.
But the point is: can you can make money out of this?
Yes, if your market it's not oversaturated and you think bigger, not just local.

its a good idea.. i usually go to local clubs and see people taken pictures thehotshotz.com

the think to make this look real is by wearing a good camera (not a $50 one)
get some t-shirts and lots of cards with your website..

the bad thing is.. if someone finds out next time they seeyou in the club, you gonna get your ass kicked

Makes sense, its easy to do. I can vouch that I only saw one company in Buffalo,Ny doing it...which has the most bars per block of any new york- city and none in the other major cities here...

NYC is another story, there has to be hundreds...can you post an example site from your country?

Instead of making them complete an offer have them register for the site to view pics. After registration hit them with a bunch of co-registration offers. Google it if you dont know what coreg is. Than they can log in each time to view pics. Than put ads on on the pics page.
