Since I started using Cloudways a year ago I am still struggling to find something new or an alternative that can match or go beyond what they offer when it comes to price, features and up-time combined.
Things I truly love about them which I am using on a regular basis
Features
- Available server locations Vultr, DigitalOcean, Linode, AWS and Goggle Cloud. Though I always prefer Vultr.
- PHP and MySQL version selector
- SSH/SFTP Access, non root but this is fine for me
- Wordpress Migration Plugin, few days ago I migrated a more than 1 gig Wordpress site and it only took 15 minutes.
- Deployment via Git
- Varnish
- Let's Encrypt SSL Provisioning and auto update
- App level or instance level - Monitoring
Support
- Ticket support response time is decent
- Chat support is always available, though you will be screened by a bot at first few messages
- Managed Server
What I don't like, or more like what I hate about CloudWays
- Only 1 DB per 1 instance or they call it app
- File manager, I am used to cPanel file manager. And they don't have one on their client panel.
- Offsite backup is not free, cheap but not free.
- No root access, not so much so much a big deal like a mentioned above but still no root access, lol.
They still have other features but I am rarely using them like this one
- Transfer servers and billing to your clients, this is really good when developing a service for a client and then transition the ownership later.
I already tried the following that I think on the same model or at least almost the same, but nothing comes close to my needs.
- RunCoud
- Laravel Forge
- ServerPilot
What about you guys? What are you experiences with CloudWays? Or do you have other suggestion that can be an alternative to CloudWays? Cheaper maybe?
