With the free plan you have a limited amount of page rules and you can't use the pro features.

I've noticed the same issue with Cloudflair free plan.
Immediately when I disabled it on my site the traffic grew.

The only reason to that could be the firewall settings set by Cloudflare which have stopped bots and spam.
Your increase in site traffic is most probably thanks to bots.
