We'd not get new members, I am still against it ;)

invitations, and more hidden threads are the solution I think

Classic 'victim of own success' situation. Closing to new members, or charging a fee would change BHW.

Everything changes.

Personally I would prefer it not to become fee paid for, like many, I would never have found this place if it was a paid membership.

As well keeping out undesirables, BHW would block off 'good' new members if it charged a fee.

The information available here is worth a fee however, but I guess the fact that it is freely available what makes this place the best forum on the internet.

We live in interesting times...

Close it off, allow invites only and charge $9.00 per month for new invites only. All current members remain free so we don't loose any good members.

I'm a "reader" here myself, and not contributing anything to the community(yet), so my vote counts for nothing. Anyway, I have to agree with some here. Close off parts of the forum.

I have a feeling the Black Hat Methods discussed here are not top of the line anyway?

Certainly the top dogs have their own "secret forums" and then once in a while let something slip to here once profits have been almost exhausted?

That doesnt mean there is a lot to learn here.

This is actually a very cynical view of BHW. It is too bad you were able to make your mind up so soon, and based on so many assumptions.

Let me clarify just one point though:

There IS a lot to learn here. It seems likely you will miss the boat though. Best of luck nonetheless.

Only close it to non-members

If there was a fee i wouldn't be able to stay :(

I think you misunderstood what I meant.

This is by FAR the most helpfull forum I have found even for a newbie like me.

But of course, the people who have worked hard to get good at this, are not going to share their golden egg the second they discover it, and thats the way it should be!

I am very thankfull of the helpfull people on here!

I don't think closing it off to the public will preserve any of the money making methods nor the absolute amount of money to be made online. In the end, the only people that will create more competition are the few that work their asses off and have at least half a brain. And it's those people that will already have access to all of the "secret" information, which is basically... work hard, and don't get discouraged if you fail.

Most people have no brain and are lazy.

I see that technically the discussion is still "open" but it is it still up for discussion? Was the vote the final decision?

If not, I say close it and make it a membership site...but for cheap. Here's the thing though...another will spring up in place of BHW and might become the next BHW.

What else to do?

Put in premium services like SEOMoz does and then pay admins to maintain peace, stability, and fairness.

Group hug,

It's the problem like "the day the earth stood still" movie isn't it or is it?. We have to end the problem quickly as well in this matter or else BHW wouldn't be blackhat anymore. Everything here will be exposed to everyone on every side then we all die. I think we have to act fast do something about it, not by just leave it as it is. I rather pay then see BHW goes.

I am a complete noob and the information I have got here so far is turning my life around. There is so much value within these pages that it feels like there should be a fee. As long as it isn't too much people will still join when they hear about the value of the info here.

I would say close it to the public, keep whatever members we have here, and charge a monthly fee.

One thing I've learned all these while about online information is that, you've got to pay for it to realize the importance of it. If members were to be charged a monthly fee, or have worked hard to earn it (eg, Executive VIP / Jr. VIP), they will most likely treasure this blackhat method or that blackhat tip; and thus they will not so freely give it away in another forum.

Adding on to that, I think any blackhat stuff shouldn't be exposed to the public eye at all. I mean, we're all talking about going under the radar for 80% of our methods, and if we are so easily exposing our methods to anyone who knows how to google it, we are shooting ourselves in the foot. This may be one of the main reasons why some methods don't work anymore, and organizations are catching up - which we don't want them to.

close off the site....

if your a serious member on here and can't figure out how to make $9 a month to cover the membership cost using the informaion on this site....then your not a serious member.

Honestly this is an awesome idea I would love to pay $9 a month to filter out the spammers, scammers, how do I make (fill in dollar amount) a day thread starters, and all around "junk traffic" that comes through here.

I'm one of the new guys here and from I have seen just skimming here and there, this place should be closed to the general public. There is just way way to much valuable info on the boards to leave it open for the average lamer to come along and steal it so they can act like hot shit on another forum. For the moment I wouldn't have the cash to pay the fee but would gladly pay when I did have it. Which should be really soon with what I have learn from this very forum.

Consider that closing off the website would prevent some great services to be offered in the services section.

I dont think it would remove the great services as with everywhere you have to pay to advertise. If someone comes up with a decent product/service someone should invite them to the forum, then the forum would be full of decent members.

you can just make the registration invite-only to keep away people and block search engine spiders. charging money? I think someone is being selfish...
