i get what secretboy is saying..

100 Pro recs -----> Person becomes Pro Member
100 Sr Member recs ----> Person becomes Senior Member

etc etc

I think that this is an interesting concept. However, I don't think that it will work exactly as you described. I think that becoming a Sr Member would be near impossible unless you were a Godly good Blackhatter that knows as much as the Senior members and exec vips
we can set the level of promotion to lower number of recommendations.
this was just an example.anyways the admin will decide if its feasible or not.i just proposed what came to my mind.

Hoestley I think a small fee would be in demand. BUT, where would the money go. That is the question. If you were to charge a small fee I would suggest doing some constructive with it to either benefit some type of great amazing unstoppable software that can be given to BHW members for free for been at a certain level of status. And this can be done through voting or as you guys already have it posts and thank yous and REP. I just think if your gonna make a shit load of money, might as well spread it around in some great way.

But I totally agress with closing this off. Becuase we all know how it gets when too many people are catching onto the Black hat way. Way too much competition.

some of you guys Act like BHW is the only Blackhat Forum if someone cant find or register for this forum they'll be just alright remember wat you dont know cant really hurt u another wards if you dont kno what blackhatworld is then it dosen't exist to u just move on and hopefully you might stumble upon another blackhat forum just like how the government is lying to the public about UFO'S not being real or doesn't exist BHW should do the same tell people that BHW Doesn' exist period:D

Honestly the small monthly fee would actually be the differnce of who is serious and who is not .

9.00 a month is nothing here in America and other countries I am sure . But others like India and such places I take it 9.00 is alot . So not sure about the 9.00 a month thing . As some parts of the world 9.00 is all that is made in a months time .

I did vote for the 9.00 a month though . As I feel that the amount of spam that comes through here of late buy xx shoes at xxdotIamahookerdotcom or some crazy spam post like that . closing BHW off will change some of that .

Now far as being invite only that is another good idea . With members being responsible for who they invite . So if you invite xx person and xx person is a spammer that is your responsibility . You invited the spammer so in essence you are that spammer .

Well just my 2 cents take it or leave it .

I like your inviter method. That is a great way to change who comes in and out. I totally agree with that. And I do see your point with the money thing with some people living in a crappy part of the world. Maybe people who live in places that have a terrible currency they can earn there way onto BHW or be invited by an member with a certain PR level in BHW forums.

Like for instance I am still a noob so I couldnt invite people till I reach the next level of membership. And someone who comes here trying to earn there way they can donate stuff until they are granted access to the forum. But they cant download until access is granted. Call it a trial period for a certain time or probation period.

Dave, will access to exec. vip be closed ? I haven't seen anybody become executive vip in quite a while, and i thought that new members would be promoted to exec vip monthly. What are the new qualifications to becoming executive vip now?

This past year BHW has gone through tremendous growth. We went from a small black hat community with around 4k members to over 24k members...roughly half the size of digital point forums.

I never thought BHW would grow this big and I am feeling it is getting too big for "black hat". The last thing we need is for this black hat forum to turn this into another digital point. With the news about ebay / cookie stuffing and other black hat methods I'm worried about people's privacy with the affiliate managers and also having our posts stolen and used on other forums. With all this extra growth I have been overwhelmed with 252 unread pms and have been not addressing important site issues which really need to be dealt with. BHW is lucky to have loving and caring admins and mods to help out but they can only help so much. :)

Several members have asked if we could close the doors to visitors and make BHW a private community for a small fee. While I realize a fee wouldn't prevent all these issues from occurring it would help to at least limit their occurrences. Now I am asking everyone for their input and what they think.

Vote above!

Yes: Please close off BHW to visitors I don't mind paying a small fee.

No: Please keep BHW open to the public I like it the way it is.

If so only members who pay a negliable fee of say $9 or $19 a month would have access to BHW forums. Executive VIP members would be exempt from fees since they have contributed in the past. Current donors would be given a 4 month free pass. Search engines would be allowed to spider the forum but would not "cache" anything thus we would not loose any traffic.

scubaslick was recently made an excutive vip.so its still on.

I like this web. Blackhatworld is start my business. I think that you can make Vip area for fee but you keep blackhatworld Open Right. Or you can use invite visitor method.

its now on a case by case basis

I would like to keep the BHW open for public.

The section that must be hidden from SE is member downloads. Make it for 100 quality posts only. That will give the newbie one thing in their mind (only if they are leecher) : "Ah, no free download here, why I must go into this site".

That will keep this forum clean from leecher, and leave the contributor or real newbie to stay in the forum. For the real newbie, member download is like a bonus for them, after they ask for many times, or answer a lot of question many times. I think that is fair.

Or, a crazy ideas from me, just blasting on my head :

Ask the new member to pay for a small fee of money (let's say, $10), and after they get into this forum, immediately refund their fee. I think that will be a test for a new member, if they are really want to contribute in this forum or just want to download the tools for them.

Sorry if you don't really understand my words, English is not my first language.

Just my $0.03 (inflation!)

I dont mind paying a small fee as I live in a western country but I feel those who live in some of the other countries would be severely disavantaged as even $9 is one hell of a lot of money to them. $9 in some countries is one weeks wage even in this new century.
This can be seen by some of the offers we get on here for outsourcing.

There is a huge amount of talent in those countries so don't lock them out. There must be a fair and equitable way to allow all to stay. Perhaps if you decide by country who will pay and who will not.

Just my 2c worth.

I originally voted for it to be closed, but now i realise it should be left opened. First inactive members should be cleared. Second invites = no go cos stuff still gets leaked that way, and it wont stop AM's and companies from getting invites. There should be an executive vip area where the best shiz is. Junior vip should be only allowed to people with a certain amount of rep, 3 months is good on top of that as well. It should not be based on how much money someone has because that wont protect jack.

I didn't vote because the options are too narrow.

While the problems are real, the poll questions make it feel like the owner has recognized a legitimate dilemma as an opportunity to enrich himself. Even if only 1/4 of current members stay, 6,000 x $9.00 is $54,000.00 per month; $648,000.00 per year. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Over half a million dollars per year (over A MILLION at $19 per month). If only HALF stay, double those numbers to over one million dollars per year at $9.00 per month and over TWO million at $19.00. And we're supposed to believe this is just about solving a membership issue? No fricking way.

  • Invite-only by the VIP-level members, limited to "x" number per month/year
  • Token ANNUAL fee - ONLY if the invitation method significantly decreases your existing operating income
  • If the fee becomes necessary, it is to be paid within 30 days prior to a member's anniversary date
  • Eliminate the DL section altogether OR require a certain number of quality posts to access it
  • Existing members stay
  • Purge inactive members - all who've not accessed within the past 30 days, or 15 days

You've created a great, great thing here. But the greatness isn't necessarily in the information; it's in the sense of community. If you monetize this for your own personal gain, I see someone here who's a smart and successful blackhatter creating an alternate BH forum that would ultimately overtake this one. I'd sure go with them.

Well, I'm a new member and I'm still trying to find my way around, but I don't see a problem with a small monthly fee. There are a lot of forums out there that charge a lot more than 9 bucks a month that don't have the quality of info available here.

The thing that I just don't get is: if what you're learning here isn't making your enough to pay $9 a month, why the heck do you keep coming back?

The problem with using number of posts to determine anything is that people like me who are new to the BH world don't really have enough knowledge to contribute yet. So you end up with people posting 'thank yous' and other junk just to boost their post count, which degrades the quality of the forum overall.

oh, and also, I disagree with the rule of : for everybody who doesn't online for XX days should be deleted. I once registered in a warez forum, and I am one of the decent contributor on there. Because of my college tasks, I cannot online for one month, and guess what ? I got deleted, and I felt so angry on that time. Seriously.

If you want to delete inactive member, do it for a member who recently registered, and then don't online for one month or more. Maybe this is a difficult thing to do.

My $0.03 again.

Well, at the moment the vote is 164 to close it and 168 to keep it open. For over 20K members, 332 votes is a pitiful response.

I'd like y'all to see another 'newbie' point of view please......
I came here everyday for 1 1/2 weeks reading for hours. The information was fascinating, and it seemed as if a whole new book had opened for me with so many chapters it made my head spin.

After 1 1/2 weeks I signed up as a member, and it was another few days before I realized there WAS a download thread.

I will contribute when and where I can, but to tell you the truth, so many of you are so far ahead of me I can't realistically imagine that I hold anything you haven't already thought of!

I've seen other newbs post stupid questions and thought where the hell have they came from, truthfully not belonging here when they can't even grasp simple methods or basic computer use.

I'm all for having some kind of a weeding out of new members, but I don't think it should be money.

And what about those, like me, who are here to learn, willing to work hard, and have a damned bit of common sense, .......but not much money (yet)?

Yes: Please close off BHW to visitors I don't mind paying a small fee.

only allow new members via a referral from only certain level members.
it would be ashame to charge a fee, meny members offer such good tips and software ,even noobs, but maybe a little more control over what is and what is,nt allowed to be shared(warze stuff)etc...
topay for info on getting ahead in a world full of money gready corperate bigits
makes us the little folk just as bad as then.freedom of info should never be suppressed

Voted open. The lifeblood of this industry and many others is new people and the new ideas that accompany them. Without the introduction of new information evolution in every sense of the word would fail.

Just a thought but didn't some of us pay a fee for full access and then the rules changed to Jnr Vip access?.

I think a one time fee was fair and kept those who were serious about anything to show some commitment. But if you do that you can't then change the rules.

I have no idea when or if I can get to Jnr Vip although I keep trying to post helpful feedback.

Maybe like many forums a 10, 14, 0r even 30 day trial then a one time fee is an ideal solution what do others think?
