Cloning WordPress Site

Yes, thanks for your opinion. I think its just a matter of style. Since the hosting and domains are there anyway the only argument I would consider is that you can test and develop if there is no internet connected. But I think even thats limited because many plugins call other hosts.

But im looking forward to try local development for one of my projects just to give it a go.
You can use plugins on it, I build amazon stores using g it. I think you don't realise what it is, this may help

Thank you. I assume its just a web server on my local machine with database and everything else I can find on a normal webserver today.

Is there any special software / tool you use to set up your local dev environment? Mac?

No special tools, just a PC. Read above

Personally I use updraftplus. Used it on tons of sites and it has worked like a charm. Really easy WP plugin.

Tip - if you are just moving a site from 1 host to another, the free version is perfect. If you want to move from 1 domain to another, you need the migration add-on.

Yes but duplicator does that without addons, that's what it's for, soooo easy
