Cloaking Good or Bad?

Hello guys, I'm still new to this forum and IM in general, but so far, learning has been extremely captivating, it seems that the more I dig, more I learn about new methods that I have never heard of. Anyways, I was digging into "Cloaking" especially for affiliate links, and it seems that some say that according to "googles guidelines" it isn't ethical, but rather deceptive. However, some say that there are "white hat cloaking" or basically just doing it right.

My question is this, "is cloaking legal? Is cloaking good or bad?"

I really don't need to be banned from Google lol.

Cloaking was never legal neither it would get in future
and yea if google find you say bye bye
 
Cloaking is not necessary For SEO.it is one of black hat techniques.Cloaking is a technique of presenting different content for search engine spiders and different content for visitors
 
You might have understood now that cloaking is an illegal practice and is considered a Black hat SEO. The Search engine may permanently ban from our index any sites or site authors that engage in cloaking.
 
Ill Reinforce what everyone else has said its very black hat and you will more than likely end up with a permanent Ban from Google -
 
cloaker is illegal, people use it to hide the real content from robots .
 
Throwing chewing gum around in Singapore is illegal. Cloaking isn’t. It’s against TOS, and it might be a great way to make some money if you know what you’re doing. NOT ILLEGAL.

Cloaking is legal.

It is against some services' TOS, notably Google's.

BUT!!!

Cloaking to better serve your users is not against the TOS. For example, you can present a version of the site to Americans and a different version to Europeans. That is cloaking based on geolocation and it's NOT against TOS.

So as always, it depends. It's not black on white.

Yes they may but only if you're trying to mislead your customers or the search engine.

If the reason for cloaking is legal (like showing cookie thing for Europeans) or compliance then you will likely not get reported or penalized.

Wrong. It's not illegal. There are legit reasons to "hide" things from robots. And also there are rogue robots that you can legally avoid using cloaking.

A LOT of cloaking is done for anti-fraud protection in fact!

Thanks for that insight. I was thinking that it would only be illegal if you use it for bad.
 
Dont used for personal and even for threshold accounts ... in 2019 Google ads blocked clocking ...
 
I think Cloaking necessary to avoid blocking your brand domain in fb and google.

How's that? Why would Facebook block my established (eCommerce) brand in the first place if I don't break any TOS?
What's actually not necessary is to write generic replies for your cloaker banner. It doesn't actually add any trust score for your brand. ;)
 
cloaker is illegal, but its necessary to run your campaigns safe without banned and hide the real content from robots and crawlers .
