Client Hosting - Reseller vs. Your Own

So, I have a web design business that I'm currently building up and expanding. However, I have come to a stand still.

I'm at the point where I really have to decide what I'm going to do about hosting. The price of hosting is currently included in the client's monthly price, however, I am simply hosting it on a Hostgator Baby Plan.

I have about 8-10 client websites on there and a few of my own. Probably somewhere around 13 total.

Now, this is working perfectly and allowing me to pocket most of the money that I get for hosting websites.

I'm just wondering if this is frowned upon by hosting companies?
Should I buy reseller hosting?

Why don't you become a Hostgator afilliate.then make your clients sign up for their own hosting under your link,you will get min $50 per sale and you can still charge monthly fee for services you do.thats what I used to do.

I would probably purchase reseller hosting, but if it's working for you now, why change anything. Essence19's idea sounds like a good plan, but would your web design clients know what they were signing up for on HostGator? I feel like some don't completely understand what "hosting" is to begin with and would question why you were asking them to sign-up. I am not sure whether you could sign them up yourself or not.

As an owner of several hosting companies the only time we get pissed off by this, is when you allow your clients to contact us directly without us ever knowing who they are. It makes it hard for a hosting company to ensure 100% security unless you keep everyone in the loop. That being said we have several clients that do this without any issues at all.
