Once lost a long-term client over a $30 invoice charge they claimed was a “mistake.” They ghosted me.
Six months later, their new dev ghosted them mid-project.
They returned with:
“Hey, can we talk? You were actually pretty solid.”
I charged 3x the old rate. They paid. No questions. ;)
Lesson: Hold your ground. Good clients come back when bad hires burn them.:D

Nice. I love this quote "The best negotiating position is to be willing to walk away and mean it." I've had similar experiences.

Congratulations. At any time, we should stick to our own position and not be swayed by customers.

I have had this similar experience more than once.

You just try to avoid ending things on a bad note with them, like saying bad words and stuff.
Walk away if you can, without getting too emotional about it.

As long as you are good at what you do and put in your best effort for your clients' sakes, you will come out right in the end. Glad to see that they learned their lesson. So many people struggle with loyalty and have to learn the hard way why it pays (not just monetarily).

That says a lot about their character. They'll again dump you when they find a replacement. So, don't rely on them for your long term income.
