Any suggestions guys. I'm on a strict budget so the cheaper the better.

I found a decent looking one but I don't know if 20gb of disk space is enough. The site will consist of the salespage, thank you page, download page ect. Would 20gb be enough disk space?

This is my first website so any help on this would really be appreciated.

I gave some info. Like I said I'm a newbie to website building so I don't really know what else to say. I just want a quality host at a cheap price. I was going to choose hostgator but since they have been bought by another company loads of people seem to be complaining.
 
What's your budget...? I prefer you to use some free hosting initially. Google may help you to figure out in this case. If you wish to buy some hosting plan from any paid site than blue-host and host-gator are best. Though little bit expensive. Coupon code may reduce some cost here. But I strongly recommend you to use free hosting. It will be best to suit it your need. Thanks

8 dollars a month would be as high as I'm willing to go.
I don't think free hosting is a good idea. I need it to be 100% reliable and if its free then that's probably not going to be the case.
 
Fat-cow and iPage doing great these days. iPage 2 years package may be 45$. But host-gator's baby plan is also great (127$/1yr). Try to get some coupon code. Google may help you to find out some.

Free hosting sucks for commercial use!
By the time your page loads your visitor has already left.
 
why don't you for servinio with dedicated server and the owner is a bhw member and i am using servinio for the last 9 month never faced any downtime or any sort of issue.

You want 100% reliability but won't go higher than 8 dollars? What kind of business are you operating?

In actual face, Hostgator is fine. Some find bad experience and others are fine. I'm both affiliate and vendor and have no issues with them.

If all you have is a sales page and a handful of others and downloads, that won't even be more than a few megabytes probably. 20 gig is more than enough.
 
"cheaper the better" is mostly wrong, especially when it comes to hosting. Go with the best. You will always be a winner. You are going to do a business. So invest money into it. I am not going to recommend you a hosting company, but if you use the search feature, you will be the best judge.

Not sure what your product is, but 20gb should be alright for most of the CB products, unless your product is very large. Also take care about the bandwidth. 20gb space and 40gb bandwidth means nothing...
Take care about port speed, ram and cpu limits too.. They all count when you say "an amazingly fast and furious server"
 
There are a few free options that are better than free or paid shared hosting but they take some work to get setup.

Amazon offers free micro tier EC2 instances (think VPS) for 1 year with new accounts. Pros: Highly customizable and scalable. Cons: doesn't "just work", can get expensive if you need to upgrade. Look for prebuilt Amazon Machine Images (AMI) with the latest version of wordpress. Or find some tutorials and install the LAMP stack and wordpress yourself.

You could also use wordpress for heroku (same infrastructure as EC2) which is free forever. Cons: gets expensive quickly if you upgrade.

A cached website using these services should be able to comfortable serve 500-1000 UVs daily but again not as simple to setup as shared hosting. There's always a tradeoff but this is as good as it gets for free hosting.

I only know a few, a good uk based web hosting company for good rankings:
123-reg.co.uk or fasthostingdirect.co.uk are both 99.99% reliable
there is always 1and1.co.uk, also an option
unless your going for a very local target audience your choice of host is practically irrelevant.
 
DON"T go Free. due to a lot of sad endings as in they shut you down for stupid reasons.

DON"T go with FatCow (im with them but looking to move) they have to many restrictions.
But in saying that they are good for newbies and good for early days, just bad for running apps

DON"T go with GoDaddy they are not good for newbies, they will drive you insane.

sorry I cant give advice on who to go with but im looking to move my sites too

20 gig is fine.. it means the amount of space you get to hold your sites stuff, images etc, just like a hard drive
Bandwidth is used when you start getting visitors to your site
