Clickbank, Twitter, and hop count.

Does anyone experience odd clickbank numbers when it comes to twitter and hopcount? For example, last night i had 544 hops to 12 order form impressions via twitter.

However, my friend said that twitter actually pings your link 4 - 5 times with different services just to verify that it's an actual link. Is this true? If so, it would make my actual hops to order form ratio much, much lower.

I think this is partially true; may be they do not pings links 4-5 times; but they usually do to check.

They might possibly ping your link a few times, but I hardly doubt it's enough to make up a significant portion of those 544 hops, perhaps 0.5-1% at the max.

That's more of a guess though, but I can't see them pinging your link say 100 out of those 544 hops.

Links on twitter are visited by various bots like twitturly, twitturls and twitterjobsearch most of which are not filtered in the clickbank analytics.
My estimates based on my logfiles and the volume of traffic are that around 60-70% of the hops you see in analytics are bots.
