What's the max amount of characters that can be used as a tracking ID?

I'm currently using 20-24 characters for my tracking IDs, and I'm not seeing any data.

Help? Thanks!

The Tracking IDs can be up to 24 characters long, and must consist only of numbers and/or letters (no punctuation or other symbols).
