Sorry if this has been asked before.. Promoting clickbank and instead of using their hoplink generator, I used just ?hop=* at the end of the url so it wouldn't look as spammy. I tested to make sure that my afil name showed up in checkout, and it did. I just had a confirmed order for a high commission item using that link (~30 minutes ago) and commission still is not showing in my account?

I don't like changing the hops like that but if you got a confirmed order then don't worry it'll show up as a sale in maybe a few hours, keep up the good work!

How can I promote a link without it looking like blatant spam? I feel bitly will take away credibility from my pitch and a clickbank generated url looks like a javascript injection

PS: By confirmed order I don't mean confirmed via clickbank. The method I promote with allows me to know when someone purchases.

IMO you can do it with your own domain

There are quite a few solutions for the above but the most optimal would be using a redirect script within one of your own website pages.

Sales show up immediately in your 'transactions' tab but can take several hours to show in your 'analytics' tab.

Never showed up. Perhaps they manually typed in the URL vs follow the link. My own fault for making the anchor the name of site :/

Lesson learned. Next time I will redirect from my own domain.

Thank you all fo the advice.

If it never showed up, how do you know they ordered? (as you said "I just had a confirmed order for a high commission item using that link" in your original post). How was it 'confirmed'?

Be sure to follow and coordinate with CB's rules when redirecting as it is well known that Clickbank frowns on using IFRAMES (for example).

Not sure what you mean, but it sounds like the reason why your hop got bypassed...

That won't work. It sounds like you're directing them straight to the sales page with the hop param. But you must go through the CB hop system in order to be credited by CB for any conversions. CB then passes the affiliate to the destination URL as the hop parameter... but that's purely for the vendor to use/not use, and doesn't actually track anything.

There are a lot of ways to make your links prettier, less spammy, etc. But at some point, there's just no getting around passing through ClickBank's front-end redirector. That's where the cookie is dropped that allows the backend tracking to work.

If you control the click origin, you can drop your own cookie and then have a clean link. But that can be lossy, and would be frowned upon in some circles (i.e. don't do that unless you know what you're doing).
