So I finally found out what this scaling thing is that I see big hitters talking about on Facebook.

I think it's their golden nugget of info which they don't like to divulge but I am going to share it here anyway:

I read you are supposed to start with hundreds of keywords on broad, then use your tracking such as prosper or clickmagick to find the keywords that converted.

THEN, make a separate adgroup this time with your converting keywords, but this time put them on phrase.

THEN, increase the bids so you get more exposure on your keywords, this is called scaling.

Then repeat the process again, but this time use exact, if you feel the need.

But I also wanted to know if you think its actually good advice to start on broad, because I have done so and the fact I haven't seen any conversions yet is making me nervous.

    thanks for sharing this strategy.
In regards to my experience, I'd use Broad in the first days to boost the impressions and let campaign run, but after a while they should be stopped to scale converting Phrase & Exact only.

Is the tactic you suggest, working for you (generating Conversoins/sales) already?

It hasn't worked for me yet, I have been promoting a Binary Options product, but I have had only 56 clicks so far.

But come to think of it, I am not sure Binary Options are very popular in the USA anyway which is where most of my clicks are coming from.

So I still think it will work with proper niche/product selection.

I am almost certain it will work with proper niche/product selection. Let's try and help each other with the right niches for Bing.

This is good. Please keep us updated.

How do you find those keywords. Are you going to just export all the keywords from keyword planner?

Yes, just put your main keyword in keyword planner, then just c&p to Bing.

So over on another thread, it just said to select products with gravity of between 5-20 and are very new because then u have low competition.

Another piece of the puzzle I think?

ok..are you planning to direct link or using a land page (maybe collect email) ?
hmm maybe. But I think the products with more gravity works best. Bcoz we have proof those sales pages convert right? And the downside is competition >> the cpc of the keywords will be higher for every keyword.

I posted a bing ppc thread before, I'm at the point now spending $15 per sale, so the profit margin (make about $10 or so per sale) is decent but not stellar. I started with broad keywords, and 3x the payout of the product as my budget to test. Use prosper202 to see what keywords and searches are converting. Then making small changes to my LP to try and up my conversion rate. I have about 45%ctr from my LP to the sales page and an 8% conversion rate there.

I've learned a lot doing this for a couple weeks. I've never done PPC before and it's good experience. Takes some start up capital to drill it down to a profitable campaign though from lowering your PPC, to upping the LP CTR then seeing if a video or text sales page works better.

I have 100% spilled the beans on it, but I think my problem has been product/niche selection.

The problem is, if you bid on hundereds of keywords on broad, you get loads of irrelevant clicks that eat into your budget.
